Addiction LXXX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm being a desert wuss and waiting 'til it hits 65 before I hit the trail. Hopefully our daily warming trend doesn't trick me like yours did yesterday.

Pre-ride turkey, stuffing, gravy, cran (the smooth kind, my favorite. We ran out the chunky kind, the rest of the family's favorite, yesterday.)

For the best I suppose, but our January Maui trip is off. Will probably just not bother trying for anything else pre-vaccine, honstly.

Feel your pain. We cancelled three trips this year, and are not booking any for 2021 until a vac is widely available. We usually take 4 to 6 a year. Been a bummer year for everyone.

Except the folks who believe it’s a hoax.

Group ride canceled today because a guy tested positive. Not sure what the thinking is, other than it’s a sign of high prevalence in the community. Maybe others were exposed to him in recent days, but doesn’t seem likely.

I’m signed up for Marion-Bermuda in June. I give it an even chance of coming off. I’m old and, theoretically, a healthcare worker, but I doubt I’ll get two doses of something on board by then.

I'm torn between being clearly a non-essential worker, non-parent, and remote worker (so late on the vaccine schedule, in theory) but also in an area where the logistics will be more robust (state capital), so theoretically sooner than a more rural area. Who knows.

Supplies will presumably go to hotspots, some of which are pretty rural these days. I’d rather be at low risk than get the vaccine faster.

Even with all the cold chain difficulties to work through?

In other news, I wish I could sit in on the meetings for AC:Valhalla in which it was determined that it's ok to make the player sit for extended periods while the machine talks at you. So many unskippable segments

What I was reading was that they were trying to figure it out, and there were production issues with those freezers and all of that could delay the process to areas that don't have their own infrastructure.

But as you say.

I hope he wasn’t riding on beach drive on his own. I got doused with a full on snot rocket by an a-hole not checking behind him before he went for it.

Must be payback from that Volvo driver yesterday.

I’m essential but not healthcare (construction), so I don’t even know if I’m going to be on a list. MoAlpha says, I’d rather be low risk. (Though the spread among the folk at the job sites (I’m not) is becoming alarming)

I'm as old as you are, but i don't think my type will make it to the front of the line. Been hearing rumblings about herd thinning. 🤔
