Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Heck yeah. Another recommendation (I watched last night). Very informative if you've never done an overnight Amtrack trip.

Saddles are so specific, but I just got this one, and have only done a few short rides with it. Initial impressions are excellent - looks like a new favorite for me. We'll see how it does on longer rides soon.

The Selle Italia SLR MAx Flow is my other fave

Good to know first if your physiology works best with a flat saddle vs round saddle profile. Then the saddle shape - pear shaped or T shaped..... Then the correct width - 130? 140?
I think the saddle is one of the most important (and least standardized) elements of bike fit

What madness? Isn't Addiction sort of like the rogue Foo subculture of the road forums?

Oh, and trying to keep things relevant.

.... and I get that I may have missed a /S with tongue firmly in cheek.....

Hmm. I've never ridden on a donut style before. Been on a Fizik Arione for years. It's OK. Never tried much else.

There's a fine line with the cutout saddles. Watch for any potential pressure points. Padding tends to lessen the effectiveness in my experience.

I've been seeking a solution to saddle numbness for years, and have tried many options; Saddle fit is so unique, so definitely not case of one solution for all.

And throwing out some music for this Friday. Not classical (I also played orchestral trumpet in the old days) but good music has many forms........

The hole is nominally to relieve pressure on the perineum, where the pudendal nerves run. That’s only an issue if your pecker goes numb when you ride.

I need to lube my chain again and my bike is filthy from last week's riding in the muck on the trail. I barely have time to ride my bike let alone maintain it. sad!

The weather this week has been absolutely gorgeous for riding. Lots of work around the house outside as well as paperwork to do inside. I might have to miss my afternoon nap.

I haven't had much numbness, but it's not entirely comfortable, either.

I need a saddle library, where I can check out different styles before I buy.

High School, primarily. Did some jazz as well. Love the classics - Alice Coltrane, Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, John Coltrane.....

Been listening to alot of these guys lately. Newer group out of the UK, in the same spirit as the classics

First wheelset build with CX-Rays for me. I'm contemplating a second wheelset - might build up a set of tubulars.

I guess this is my midlife bike. Ripe with nostalgia and provenance but fully modern..... I dig it.
I am a firm believer in modern components on any era frame. I even support replacing steel forks with carbon. Makes for a wonderful, light, sweet riding bike.
