Cleats loose in pedals?
I just bought a nice pair of S-Works shoes off eBay; they're '05 models but were new and unused. I then attached a new set of Shimano SPD-SL cleats (with float) and tried them out on my Ultegra pedals, which are less than a year old. I like the shoes, but they're loose in the pedals...they click in ok but slide all around fore and aft, outside the normal "float" that's designed into the cleats. Adjusting the spring tension on the pedals doesn't help. I did not have this problem using the same brand/model cleats with my Shimano shoes. Funny thing, I took the old cleats off my Shimano shoes and put them on the S-works shoes and it seemed to tighten things up a bit. The new cleats seem to be too small for the pedals or something like that, which is weird because they're the exact same brand (Shimano) and model as the old ones that seem to be tighter and work as they should. Anyone ever experienced this problem, and if so, how'd you fix it? Might I have gotten a defective set of cleats?

I’d like to resurrect this old thread because I’m having a similar problem.
I only replaced one cleat because I was heading out when I noticed the break in one.
Im experiencing movement in the one with the new cleat. The other is like normal. This are on some well work Sidis that are now my rain shoe.
Anyone else have problems with possibly getting a bad spd cleat? These are yellow and I know they float, but this is different.

What kind of movement? Yellow = 6 degrees.
Try another one & see if it solves your problem. If so, return defective product. Also, you might as well treat yourself & change both sides.
