1982 Trek 311?

Came across a 1982 Trek that i believe is a 311 based on the serial# but it’s a bit worn and hard to read one of the numbers. I believe the number is 023695 which makes it an 82 311. If the number is actually 023895, then it is an 82 614.
Below is the original posting with pics. I have a pic of the serial number but cant attach it yet

I’m curious if you all think it is a 311 or another model and if that model is a good bike

Looks like a 311 based on the silver paint and blue panel. Brakes have been changed from DiaComp to Treko

Way overpriced IMHO for your market. I have bought a lot of bikes in the Denver area and have found some GREAT deals there. This is not one of them. Also check out Lucky Bikes (co op). Their bikes are not cheap, but they sell properly refurbished bikes at a realistic price. Nice group there, and a good cause. The Boulder co-op also tends to have nice bikes.

I sold this 1987 Trek 400 from the campground in Golden on a trip last year. In nearly perfect condition, beautiful bike. $150. It had to go, as I just kept finding deals on bikes that trip. In fact, I donated THREE bikes I bought! (Not the best plan, but when you are out of room something has to go!) I brought home a Litespeed, a top of the line Crescent, and an Eddie Merckx. Needless to say, the camper top went back on the truck after that trip (so I can hold more bikes).

Want to know how much use a bike has had? Look at the rims for wear first. See picture below, basically zero rim wear on anodized rims (which show the slightest of wear).

I traveled through CO on the way to UT this year (late January). Ended up picking up several bikes in CO that trip too, and several more in UT (so I had to donate a couple).

OK, its more money, but I would be all over that Klein with full Dura Ace for $395 on your FB marketplace. Choice #2 is the Peugeot for $180 listed as a Bicicleta (its either a PX10 or one step lower). Choice 3 is the Bertoni, Shimano 600 plus Columbus Matrix ($250). Choice #4 is the 1984 or 1985 Trek 620 for $300. Choices 3 and 4 have been for sale for a while, so I would consider an offer. I like 3 and 4 better than #2 . Klein would be my top choice.

Thank you for the advice. Greatly appreciated.
Came across these as well and they look, to my newb eyes, to be original and in decent condition. I’d specifically be interested in the blue (possibly an early/mid 70s uo8?)

UO8 = entry level bike with unique French sizing, cottered crank, steel
rims, seat post and bars, and plastic dérailleurs. Unless you have a pile of French parts, I’d pass. If you want French, I’d get that PX10 I already mentioned (I think it’s a step below but still very good).

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.
