Continental Town and Country

Ok, so it's getting close to the time to replace these tires. They seem to be decent tires. Good for pavement, suck on gravel.

I would like a nice mix type tire. Weight doesn't matter. Just want it to be tough. Good on pavement, but have a bit of tread for gravel.

And...I NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET THE DARN TIRE ON!!

These are the worst. And yes, I have changed a few tires. maybe my fingers aren't as strong as the used to be, but man, those are hard to mount.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Found these. Although they wouldn't be any better on gravel roads, might they mount better?

What kind of rims? Half of the tire/rim interface is the rim. Rhino Lite rims, for example are one of my favorites for a beat around bike but they're not the easiest rims to install tires onto.

Really doesn't look like something he'd want to be running on gravel though. By Schwalbe's own rating system on their website, off-road grip is pretty poor.

Just mounted those on the neighbors 2 Trek mountain bikes, that they only use on roads, really no issues. Used a single Park plastic tire lever which made it quite easy.

WTB rims. Came with the bike. Cannondale F4 purchased 9-10 years ago. I'll take a look at those suggestions.
The tire jacks look interesting.
Thanks,
Bill

Ok, so finally got some new tires. Went with Schawlbe Marathon GT Tour. Is the the narrow ribbed section just above the bead supposed to be the same all the way around? After monkeying with the tires, yes both, for an eternity, they seem like they are just not seating correctly. Some of it disappears under the rim, then appears again. Tried to take a picture but it didn't show on camera. The good news is that I did get the tires on! Other than that, no bulging, nothing.

Thanks

my wheels are WTB 20-559, 537 ERD, whatever those numbers mean. I did get the Schwalbes on, and the tag says those are 50-559, 26x2.
Still wondering if they are completely seated.
