Advice: Sugino Super Maxy Crankset vs. Shimano Exage Crankset

Hoping to get an informed opinion about a change I recently made to my Crankset
I just switched out my 1992 Bianchi Premio's stock Shimano Exage 300EX crankset for a Sugino Super Maxy set that I purchased in like new condition on eBay. I impulsively bought the crankset after offering the seller a lower price than what it was up for without doing much research - just thought it looked nicer than the worn condition of the stock set honestly. Would this be considered a massive component downgrade? After doing some riding it does feel a little different but nothing too noticeable yet.
Appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

I would consider that a nice upgrade, although the Super Maxy is more suited to a 1980s bike IMO. If I was looking to upgrade a 1992 bike that had Exage components I would go with a Shimano 600 tricolor.

The Super Maxy name was applied to about, I dunno, a half dozen different cranks over the 70s and 80s. So, It's hard to make a judgement on the name alone I would think.

These would have been made in the 70s-80s. There's probably a date code on the back of the crank arm to verify the actual manufacturing date. This model was a bit different than a typical crankset. The large ring was one piece, and the small ring bolted to it, with the ring assembly attaching to the crank arm, rather than the crank arm having an integral spider that both rings bolted to.
This crankset will probably work, but I would not consider it an upgrade. It's also a decade(ish) older than your bike.
