New conversion project with vintage Free Spirit

Picked this up for a $10, rusty components included! With horizontal dropout, has SS in my mind! Already sold the rear bike rack for $10, so broke even!

$10 find.

So far...

Stripped

De-rusting

Decent ratio (42x17) and chainline already there!

Rough test!

Cool rims and texture - serrated?

Rust removed and shiny again

Brakes lines done

New gel-cork wrapped

New squishy bar tape (gel-cork)

Go for it! A conversion on the cheap can be a fun experiment. As you go on, the more steel components you replace with aluminium the lighter the bike will get. Keep the cost in mind as you go. If you really want to jump into the SS/FG world consider getting a specific Track or road FG frame. Build as you want.
