I have an 800 and have not had any problems with it. I don't pair it to a PM, so maybe that helps. I get speed, cadence and heart rate and I have never seen it drop data. I do need to get a new battery for it. The battery life is getting amazingly short.
The only oddity I've noticed is the climb/descent data. As I noted several posts back, that data seems odd. It is not uncommon and usually typical that I will have greater descent values than climb values. In addition, the error is in the neighborhood of 5% difference. I write it off as GPS error and due to the small amount of elevation change the seemingly high percentage error is also the due to small total elevation changes.

I usually circumvent rules and regulations and other constraints. Spain I don't have a problem with.
But that's just me.

Survived the group ride. There was an older gent along this time and he was blessedly slower on the climbs so I had some downtime now and then to recoup. Managed to mostly just be in zone 4 this time around. Not sure if that's good or bad though really. I do this ride to push myself.

The ride leader's cassette is an 11-21. I didn't even know they made such a thing. He's such a beast he doesn't even use those big 20+ teeth cogs he has either.
Figured out my issue with the Garmin. When I changed the flat on Sunday I bumped the speed sensor thingy and it adjusted it in slightly. Before the group ride I moved it over enough to get the speed sensor portion working at the cost of my cadence data. I'll fix it up later after work. Anyone using those magnet-less speed/cadence sensors? I imagine they're less prone to this kind of failure.

Today will be junk miles to Brooklyn. There is a remote chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. If I go to Jersey for my repeats I'll probably get rained on or electrocuted. If I put off my repeats until tomorrow the weather will be clear. Sometimes you should put off your repeats.

30 mile group ride at 4:15 am, six people showed. We snuck into a park that doesn't open until sunrise because we wanted to do the climb in there. Sun came up by the time we got to the top and it was light enough for a group pic by the time we got to the bottom. That's me in the middle.
Tired legs today, I was slow on the hills. But I'm increasingly finding that no matter how tired my legs are, on flats or descents it doesn't seem to matter as much. Maybe different muscles involved. I kind of warmed into this ride and was riding pretty normally by the end. Really fun ride, great start to the day.

I do get all the whinging about Garmin. I have a 500 and an 810. Both work well and I have not had issues pairing with multiple power meters and HR straps.
My only beef has been the mounting tabs on the 500 breaking. They replaced it 3 times, until I finally installed one of these.. Dogears

For what it's worth, I'm on the verge of retracting every bad thing I ever said about Garmin. If you recall, Garmins story was that my issues likely related to bad data coming from the Stages power meter, even when my issues were with just HR or just speed or just GPS. Garmin's explanation was that bad data coming from the Stages would fatally confuse the Garmin units and cause my data drop outs, units freezing, erroneous values, everything. I thought this was BS, just Garmin passing the buck. Admittedly however, I never had any issues before I got the Stages power meters.
Guess what? Since getting the SRM, not one issue with any data, neither with Garmin units nor the SRM head unit. I think it's too soon to say for sure, but it looks like my data issues might be solved, at least on The Magic Bike, which is the bike with the SRM. I should start riding the Sparrow more now that the Di2 is on it, so it will be interesting to see whether I have data issues on that bike but not the MB.
I'll let y'all know.

Excellent.
I really like the Saturn jersey. The helmet-mounted lights look pretty dorky but I understand they may be necessary for early rides.
