While riding tonight I caught up to a friend I haven't seen in a while. I offered to pull for a while as we chatted. As we passed a guy standing on the side of the trail, we both immediately recognized the pungent odor of smoke and both said at the same time, "Hey, that was pot" as we passed by. Was a good laugh.

...at the risk of stating the obvious, if you left earlier you could make the ride longer. I would sometimes do that when I was commuting to the fire station, but I was usually too lazy and disorganized to leave early. I often took a longer detour on the way home, however.
