Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yum, love bacon. I checked the Peoria paper and they didn't list pork bellies for yesterday. Corn was $3.46 1/2 per bushel, though.

We rode 47 miles this morning on the retired racer guys ride and 30 miles tonight on our club's tandem group. Give us 77 miles for the day.

Wait till she figures out how to get those drawers open. Won't be quite so cute then, will she?

Second flat ever on the Allez tonight. Same as the last one - front pinched by road debris during an out-of-the saddle effort on a short hill. (not the same hill)

...not to worry. As a bicycle professional, you will have plenty of time to ride once the weather turns crummy and cold.

.
...I just spent several hours resurrecting a set of the rare, endangered (some say extinct, but they are wrong) Eclipse panniers and rack. I can hardly wait to put them on a bicycle cycle.

I ride to the shop, but it's only four and a half miles from my house.

...at the risk of stating the obvious, if you left earlier you could make the ride longer. I would sometimes do that when I was commuting to the fire station, but I was usually too lazy and disorganized to leave early. I often took a longer detour on the way home, however.

Maybe I'll take a short run on bike shop days. It'll be like triathlon training.
