was it dark? a lot of times even with my 1300 lumen light on max power things just jump out at you, especially at high speed and you kinda just gotta eat it.

great to have those mtb skills in the quiver in those scenarios!

sometimes in the day time when im going up the major ride corridor for the nyc area dudes will suck my wheel for a while and i give zero ****s about flying around **** in the road without giving them warning.

maybe that makes me a dick, oh well.

I don't think that makes you a dick at all. I do the same thing: If a rider just starts riding my wheel for an extended period without asking, I'm not going to give any courtesy in return. What it does is make you a little pompous - ridin' that moral high horse.

Conversely, If I come across a small group of riders going at a similar speed, I'll ask if I can join in before, every time. "You guys mind if I join/sit in?" Most people are friendly when cycling, or at least appreciate the common courtesy.

Ditched the tracker for various reasons. Safety being one of them haha.

I have a new project in mind, more of a daily driver too.

An $80 bar bill later and I was heading home, feeling good. Until I crashed on my face. Huge road rash scar on my left cheek, bruised shoulder, cuts all over my right arm.

Needless to say, I'm a little sore today.

I think he meant to attach it to the down tube or the seat tube, you know, where cages usually go.

No room on the seat tube as you can see. Down tube is aero tubing. This is an older pic of it.

Oh, nevermind, I see what you mean about a dedicated track bike.

I did a local shop ride last night to be social, and do something different. It was just a few of us; the leader (a shop employee) and some college kid were pretty fast, so it was fun.

Toward the end we are coming down Kearny Villa, a flat, fast, long and open road with a tailwind. Three of us are pacelining at ~30mph. While I'm on the front, taking a slightly extended pull, we come up on some big rocks in the bike lane, like softball-sized. By the time I had noticed them, I was already going through, fortunately I didn't hit any. Other two are tight on my wheel.

The third rider (shop employee, ride leader) hit one and went down. After a couple min. of laying down and calming down a bit, it was clear he had a broken collarbone - swelling, redness, and a clear protrusion from a displaced bone. Fortunately there wasn't significant damage to his bike or his body otherwise.

I feel kinda bad that I didn't notice them sooner, but sometimes they (road obstacles) just come up on ya. The whole time we had been pointing out obstacles and riding courteously. I don't feel personally responsible or guilty at all, just bad for the guy
Heard that... couple months ago I was on a night ride and saw the dude ahead pointing out the monster truck tires lying in the middle of the shoulder. Kinda didn't register for a second, brain was trying to process the wtf. Managed to swerve out of the way but still endovered, too heavy on the front brake. Was able to limp about 75k home afterwards.

You will need to come up with an alternative.

hose clamps have no problems bending around shaped tubes

you could also just go nuts with a roll of electrical tape. bikepackers do it, if its good enough for them its good enough for riding the street
