Just went to the bike shop and tried the new roubaix.
Yup. 61 is too big. Need me a 58.
That future shock really is everything your hearing it is. I was shocked how well it can climb!

Good to hear.

It sounds like you've answered about 3 of your questions.

The only question remaining is whether there are sufficient funds in the bank account

Unfortunately, that may be the one that matters the most!

specialized Roubaix

Not sure if you found a bike yet. Just letting you know that I found a 2011 Roubaix for $500. Not sure which model it is but he paid $2,500 for it new. I do know it has the Shimano 105 gearset. He also has a ladies Roubaix for $500. Not sure what size it is but can find out for you if you would like. He is out of town but will return May 29th if you are interested. I know that the one I am picking up is in excellent shape and was not ridden much. It looks brand new. Thought you might want to know.

I have been looking at buying a specialized roubaix. I was an off roader, so this would be my first street bike. I like the roubaix for the comfort factor and the warranty.
I can get the base sl4 new for 1700 or if I try the elite and feel the new fancy stem and 105s are worth it, I can drop the $2600.
I was just looking at Craigslist and saw a very nice condition 2014 roubaix sl4 expert in my size. Asking 1700 obo.
Do you folks think it's a good idea to snag the used one if I can talk him down, or just go new?
