Hello,

Feel lucky to have found what I think is a 1969± Legnano Roma Olympiade this weekend. Not much original left on the bike— maybe the headset and bottom bracket. Campy rear hub but no Legnano markings on it. Bike fits me well and I look forward to cleaning it up and riding it. It has the five holes where the original head badge mounted, would like to source a badge and re-mount. Serial number is on the BB with no letter markings so I presume this to be Falck tubing? Frame weight in at under 5lbs.

So close to 10 posts, but not there yet— thus please look in my Library of pictures. The frame has been repainted red.

So welcome aboard, glad you found us, I see you've actually been here awhile and should have gotten 10 posts by now.

You will have them if you respond to this.

We are big fans of Legnano's here so you will get plenty of info, input, etc.

I even got a DS branded crank and pedal for the heck of it, they were rusty but cleaned up ok.

No real expert but finding a HB is likely to be a very heavy lift, you can probably get a sticker version so there's that.

Hello Merziac,

Yes, the HB maybe a stretch. You put it out there and see what happens....I will enjoy this bike either way. It may deserve to be refinished and pay homage to its roots somehow.

If this gets me to ten, photo will follow.

Roma Olimpiade 1967-1974 on BB shell
XXX = Columbus tubing
XXX F = Falck tubing
XXX R = Reynolds tubing

As for 1969, could be.

Thanks, so Columbus tubing. My guess on 1969 was based on holes for head badge. I thought I read somewhere that the HB went away after that, and that cable stops appeared after that ±.

Absolutely, plenty here to work with, fantastic find and glad it fits.

Locknut on rear hub may help date this, may not be original either, steerer tube may also tell us something.

Seat binder and grub screw can be fiddly on these, I see it all came apart so that's good, doubt that post is original and would

make very sure the correct size is being used moving forward.

...there's a great deal of information and pictures on the Condorino website, including some catalog pages.
He knows way more about these bikes than is probably healthy, and posts here from time to time. I forget his username.
