Bicycle plus rider age

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) just made me a life member, simply because my age plus number of years of membership has reached the century mark.

This year the 1959 Capo and I have reached a combined age of 125 years, and the Bianchi and I passed the combined century mark last year.

I know we have at least a few other combined century (rider plus machine) members here.

Well, lets see. Age 61 and I have a Schwinn I bought new in '81, so 97. Still have a few years to go. I have one 53 years old, but I'm not counting that because I have not owned it very long.

Rider = 66, so any bike '83 and before gets 'us' to 100. So 6 of my bikes get me there, with 2 more not far off.

My old bike is coming up on a half century. And I've just passed the half century mark, so add the two together and one comes up with just about exactly a century.

No, I didn't buy the bike when I was 2, but I have owned it since I was 16.

I've owned my bike since 1981, so the number is 109. The frame was built in '73, so the number might be 117. When does the clock start - frame date or ownership date?

Let's see here, my '75 Fuji that I bought new has a build date of 9/74 according to the serial number, so that's already 43 years old. I'm 59.4 , so we have a combine2 102 years.

Actually it's a Standard Beetle, not a Super. And the 2180cc engine adds 150hp extra.

Really! Guess I've forgotten the field marks. I thought the larger turn signal and tail lights were the ID.

It's a beauty in any case. Great color.

118 for my age plus that of our Gitane Tandem Sport. But we bought the bike used when it was 7 years old, so only 111 if discounting those years.
