I got a new tool chest a few months ago and since the weather was at best mild yesterday I spent some time trying to organize the mess I have. Why the papers from my '99 Mega Pro Ti bike were in there but they were. Even with an employee discount the frame/fork was still $1134.00 and the Record kit with lots of personal touches was slightly more at $1345.56.

I never jelled with the bike. Despite trying a set of Mavic Krysum wheels I just never like the ride for some reason. I ended up selling it in '15, but with a different set of clincher wheels.

Aside from the wheels this is how she looked ever since I bought her. The original wheels were CampI hubs with blue Mavic tubular rims.

The Krysum wheels were cool but didn't really make the bike feel better

Almost as much as I paid for my '88 Super Leggera

It was fun paging through the Q.B.P. catalog picking out all these goodies.

My 2019 Infinito CV Disk

I traded my Impulso for this 2019 Infinito at a great price at the end of the season. I did manage to get a couple of hundred miles on it before the snow began to fly. Anxious for spring 2020!

With Celeste bridge accents, even! The view from Wabasha Ave. doesn't look like that today, though.

or this...

Columbus and Bianchi like most companies never mentioned what the forks and stays were on their bikes with only the 3 main tubes made of a premium tubing. TRETUBI for example.

Attachment 420457 Attachment 420458

During the 60s and very early 70s, quite a few French bikes came with Reynolds 531 main tubes and Durifort forks and stays -Zeus too. They had Durifort decals on the forks.

Attachment 420460

BG, I think that the real reason was that frame tubing stickers were more of a marketing tool than anything else. Back during the bike boom, a number of British makers made frames with the 3 main tubes straight gage Reynolds 531 while the rest of the tubes were who knows what.

Attachment 420461

Bike buyers in the US became aware that a bike made of Reynolds 531 tubing was special. Little did they know of all the different Reynolds decals and what they meant.

I guess that Formula Two will remain a mystery.... (but I like your idea that it was probably a blend of Aelle and what have you)

Same thing with Bianchi Special Columbus tubing:
