16 miles late Sunday. Planned to do more since it was a beautiful warm day, but didn't have the legs. Still good to get out and ride.

Nice evening to ride in central Saskatchewan, +4 Celsius, and no snow yet!
Riding my 30ish pound hybrid commuter, since the road bike is away for winter...almost 20km in just under an hour / just under 20KM/h average speed.

Funny how hills never look anywhere near as steep in images as they seem in person.

"Allez! Allez!" I called to my wife.
"Okay, you find a soft spot in the shade and I'll lay there!" she called back. She's a real trooper, and a lovely, fun companion!

Did pretty good this past weekend. The weather finally cooperated. Sorry, I'm just not a foul / cold weather rider. Did 32 miles Saturday and 60 miles Sunday. I have to travel for business the next few weeks and I m betting that if I don't get an after work ride in this week I am done for the season. To top it off my headlight just stopped taking a charge too, only 2 weeks old.

Yes, just about every day

My bicycle is my transportation complemented by buses. I do ride recreational on the weekends when the traffic is lighter. During the week, I do most of my errands, groceries, hardware, or whatever. Everything is so close, that I try to combine errands that are bit further. I live in Barbados, so there is no winter, and I live in shorts and t-shirts all year long. The last 5 years before I retired, I lived in the mid atlantic and road back and forth to work, but I learned to hate the winters, the clothes, changing tires for snow and ice and so on.

Just 10 miles, first ride in 15 days. I was not at my best, since the layoff was due to a cold-like illness I couldn't shake.

Shingles vaccine on Friday which turns out to have side effects that feel just like the flu coming on (generally crummy feeling, aching joints, muscles feeling crushed, a little light-headed). Saturday it was bad so I bet on exercise to feel better. This almost always works (unless I'm actually sick). Afternoon hill workout in the hood, three miles, then at dusk a big loop to the east with a hilly outbound and flatter return. Felt great and that was the end of the side effects.

Sunday night a dark loop up through the hilly north, maybe 13-15 miles. This cool weather is heaven.

26 miles Monday night, to and from the hospital where my mom is in ICU, extubated Monday after a weekend sedated and on a ventilator with respiratory distress. After a rough year and steady decline she seems to be approaching the end. I'm not quite reconciled with that inevitability. I thought about taking the bus since my legs were dead and I was tired, but the thought of 3-4 hours on a city bus with all this on my mind was too dreary.

We're enjoying a bit of warm, clear, springlike weather. Seemed a shame to waste it. I took the hybrid, reminded myself to gear down, take it easy, spin and not worry about the speed or anything but just moving. Possibly my slowest ride in two years and it was just fine. It helped.

Got to Wilder Ranch north of Santa Cruz today. It’s nice to live on the edge of the continent.

. I Rode down the long hill near my home then turned around and rode up for 1/2 an hour. Then across the bute and up into the mountains. It was a beautiful day, but cool. This time of the year I ride with a bag on my back I can take layers off and stuff them in the bag if necessary and if it gets cold I have more clothes to warm me. I have Raynaud syndromeand have to keep my hands warm. If they get cold they become very painful and nothing, even soaking them in hot water wont make the pain go away. Today I changed my gloves three times in a little over three hours. Had to put my jacket on when I got up in the mountains and really needed it on the long fast decent. I ordered some electric gloves from Canada with elements around the fingers and thumb that I saw someone review here on BF last winter, but they haven't arrived yet. I hope they get here tomorrow or Monday.... 39 miles either climbing or descending.

25 miles Friday, to and from the hospital where my mom is in palliative care, about to transition to hospice. Definitely needing the bike rides for stress relief. We've anticipated and planned for this for years, but when it comes we're never really ready. Beautiful, cool, clear autumn weather. Can't complain about that.

Was supposed to do a group (Club) ride today, but the leaders postponed it because the forecast was for >20mph winds, with gusts up to 40mph!
Wifey & I decide to ride anyway.

47 mile road ride (on my 'cross bike).
And yep, it was pretty windy, but not nearly as bad as that forecast suggested.

21 miles as a bike commuter Friday. Took the long way home and rode past the local high school where T.Rump and others were to appear at a campaign rally. Roads and sidewalks clogged with cars and people. Didn't see any bike parking facilities so I just rode on home.

Today - 24 tandem miles. Trees/leaves in Central IN are at their peak. Nice.

My wife and I drove over to Loveland, OH. (we live in N. KY) and did a 30 mile bike ride (out and back) section of the Little Miami Scenic Trail in Ohio, from Loveland to a bit north of Morrow. That particular trail in entirety, according to TrailLink, is 177 miles from Cincinnati to just east of Columbus. A really nice trail that follows the Little Miami river (although you wouldn't know it from the images below) and mostly under a canopy of trees (very nice on a hot summer day). Well maintained trail with plenty of places to take a break if you want. It was a bit cool (mid 50s) but not bad, no wind and sunny. Ohio seems to have hundreds and hundreds of miles of Rail Trails so glad we live close by. This trail can be a bit crowded during really nice weather but that thins out about 5 miles or so north of Loveland... today wasn't one of those crowded days. Saw 5 whitetail deer (one buck) along the way.

This image is 3 or 4 miles north of Loveland

This one is of the Peter's Cartridge factory, abandoned long ago. According the historical marker on the trail, they were producing 1.5 millions rounds of ammo per day for the war effort (WW II)

This final image was taken on the trail in Morrow, Ohio and is of the old train station along with a restored caboose.

Happy back to STANDARD TIME all.

To celebrate 5 years ago yesterday as a then 63 year old newbie geezer being here ....... ..... and joined by almost 2,500 other crazy individuals, I ventured outside into 12/15mph winds for a 112 mile ride. While my completion of the 112 miles was gratifying, the fact that it took 7:32:33 of actual pedaling time and not the 5:52:36 even after a 2.4 mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico with a marathon to follow, is rather depressing.

Good luck to all of the athletes in today's relocated Ironman Florida being held in Haines City instead of Hurricane Michael hit Panama City Beach.

18 miles on the LOOK 585 yesterday in N. GA. 62 degrees and sunny. A vest and arm warmers and I was good. Suburban and country roads and a great ride. Could have gone longer but had to get home for the UGA-Kentucky game. Great ride, great game.

It was cold when I went out today, wore my winter cycling jacket, tights and a warm pair of gloves. Rode down a very long hill for 30 minutes then turned around and climbed back the same hill. By the time I got to the top I was sweeting and stopped, took off my jacket and sat in the sun for 20 minutes. Headed up into the mountains where it was much colder so the jacket went back on. Climbed for 6 miles then turned around for a fast descent. There are 8 mapped segments on Map my Ride on the routes I usually take. On 7 of them I'm King of the hill on hills and sprint king on the flat ones, and guru on 7 of them. On the Sprint King or King of The Hill I'n not near the fastest, just accumulated the most points. I don't know how they award points. Guru is given to whoever completed the segments the most times, which being retired and nothing else but ride my bike I've defiantly achieved. I'm so far ahead of everyone else I probably would still hold all the titles if I stopped riding for the rest of the year. I'm old and I'm slow, but I've got all the others beat, I'm sure all the serious riders are on Strava where I would be far down on the lists. 39 miles today

1st Winter ride of the season

A short ride on the F*T B*ST*RD, to check everything out for winter/snow riding, then he got his fall scrub down.

Later a lot of twiddling and tweaking my hardtail MTB with Schwalbe Ice Spikers, in preparation for the coming 5 to10cm of snow and -10ish Celsius temps.

Managed to break 50 KM/H drafting a city transit bus
