Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I really do wish I could tell you, but I just got her today through FedEx. I took her for a quick spin around the block with some medieval fit adjustments, but it was like 35º out and pouring out rain. When I took the frame out for a jot at my LBS three weeks ago it was amazing and did absorb bumps pretty well, but I also come from an 80's Cannondale, where if I hit a good-sized pothole I'd break my wrist.
The highs: Frame, wheels, groupo
The lows: seatpost, seat, bars, bar wrap, stem, tyres

Thank God I've been collecting parts since I bought the bike or else I wouldn't be able to ride it!

Nice changes! I like the saddle, pedals and wheels. I might copy you on the Livestrong band, since my wrists are too big to wear them comfortably. I also have two of the white "I support drug-free sport" bands from Cyclesport magazine.

How tall are you?

Thanks... surprisingly I haven't seen anyone else put their Livestrong bands on the seatpost. Seemed like a good spot to me.

I'm 5'7" and probably should have gone with a 51cm frame. I then could have a little more setback in the post/saddle as well as a longer stem. The Ritchey is a 90mm. I can't complain much though with over 5,000 miles and a few centuries and near centuries.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Bianchi Brava I got not too long ago. Very confortable ride to say the least. Fits me well at 55cm, which I thought would be too big for meat 5'7". Components are nothing fancy, and if anything actually, they are pretty entry level for entry level. You may notice the flashing red light on the back and the little front light on the handle bars as I intend to use it to ride to work for now as well.

Below is the bike I used to ride back in the day. It has not been in the road in over 10 years. Looks almost just as good as it did on day one. Recently I had a bike shop clean it up really well and tighten things up. This bike is a 54 cm frame and it feels much bigger t me, which made me think I was a 52-53 cm guy. Who cares. Not as confortale as the Bianchi. All 105 components in it. Rides nice though.

Newbie - and his Mondonico

Hello everyone. I just joined the forums and though I would test thing out by posting a couple pics of my baby. It's a 70th Anniversary Mondonico w/ monostay (like the EL-OS, but using Columbus Nivacrom "Nemo" tubing). No the best pictures, but I think they get the point across.

Flyte SRS-3, 8-speed Dura-Ace, FSA Gossamer crank, Mavic Ksyrium Elites. I made the final cut to my fork and changed the seatpost.

^^ Nice Flyte... good work. What kind of weight did you come in at? I really like the Gossamer crank.

I was so very close to jumping in on the Flyte deal but I started totaling up what I'd be putting into all the parts and new I didn't have it right now. I need a few upgrades for the current steed before I even consider expanding the stable. The good thing is with every new part I buy I'm one part close to enough parts for a second bike.

I like both bike and the aggressive setup. That's how a threadless stem/fork should look! Congrats!

Cool Brava. My first bike was an 05 Brava in Snow White. I kicked myself for so long about the color later on (whyyy didn't I get celeste?!).

Looks good with the trimmed steerer. And I still think those 8-speed Dura-Ace shifters are sweet.

I waited a bit late and missed out on a 52cm but I'm making this 50 work for me. Right now the weight is right about 19 lbs as shown; my sewups knock about 8oz off the weight. I could easily save another 5-6oz with new saddle and post.

I could have removed the final 1cm headset spacer. I just left it on a whim but it may end up on top.
