I doubt you will see any major fluctuation in price. The prices you see now aren't going to suddenly change.

I don't know so much about the US market but Dahon generally sets a fairly high price themselves and they have all the logistics costs of selling through local bike shops mainly here in Europe. The market is different in Europe though as I believe many are assembled in Europe in Bulgaria I believe for the European market. Dahon would likely do some US assembly if tariff's became a problem, it's a high margin company.

I sell Dahon's prices already jumped due to tariff's. Future deliveries might be cheaper, however current prices should be stable for a while.

Thanks

LOL.

For trade/tariff purposes, Taiwan (where Dahon maintains operations) is not China. Then there's NAFTA.

The best bike is one that fits you best, so when you are cost comparing, do not forget that you need the bike to fit you well when you are riding it.

Strange reaction, Dahon has had many bikes manufactured in mainland China and lower quality countries too like Bangladesh. Some models were wholly designed and manufactured in mainland China and merely branded Dahon.

https://www.bike-eu.com/sales-trends...cycle-10125767

Often they have had final assembly of bikes in Taiwan from mainland China parts. There is a Taiwanese company that specialises in final assembly of mainland China components that achieves a higher quality assembled product than mainland China assembly.

However the point is if Trump makes it difficult or expensive to import whole bicycles then US assembly is an option. There is already a Chinese company in the US assembling bicycles for Walmart because I guess they are sensing it may get more difficult to import complete bikes.

This is not rocket science it will be commercial necessity. From what I've seen of Dahon entry level models in bike shops they are not taiwanese they are pretty low end bikes with basic freewheels, fairly poor quality frames and certainly not something you would expect from a taiwanese factory for their entry level models, almost definitely components coming out of mainland China with only final assembly in Bulgaria. I would imagine the same arrangement being possible in the future with US assembly. Taiwan is expensive nowadays and makes very little with regard entry level bikes either components or complete bikes however many of the bicycle companies that manufacture in mainland China, Cambodia and Vietnam are Taiwanese companies. If Trump makes it difficult to import complete bikes made of mainly mainland China components then US assembly may make commercial sense.

Why buy Dahon? Tern is better.... For Dahon, I'd probably only buy used.

Considering how Tern has destroyed their reputation, I'd say Tern being better is a fallacy,... I own a TernJoeP24, and I luv it. I don't have any faith in their 20" folders,...too much old stock is still floating around. Too risky,...I've never had any concerns with my 3 Dahon folders.
