Hi from Nova Scotia
Hi all,
I joined the forum about a year ago and posted once ... figured it was time to post an introduction. At this rate, I will be able to post pictures by August 2024.
I had an early-90s Norco mountain bike that I bought used in 1994 and rode daily until I bought a motorcycle in '95. The bike turned into an every once in a while bike, then a once a summer bike, then a storage room bike where it sat until I donated it to a cycling group. Little over two years ago I sold my house and moved from the suburbs into the city. Started walking most places and using my motorcycle less and less. Ended up buying another bike - Giant Escape 2 City - for trips that were a bit too far to walk to quickly but too close to either jump in car or on motorcycle.
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed being on bicycle! I've recently changed jobs where I am a 15 min walk or a 5 min cycle - I cycle most days just so I can take a longer way home.
I've slowly been changing out the touch points - added ergon grips last year, clipless / flat pedals a few weeks ago. Next up is a different seat. Hoping to take it on a short (2 to 3 day) tour in early September.
I have my motorcycle up for sale and am eyeing a second bike (gravel, road, or touring ... I haven't figured out what I want to do yet).
Cheers,
rick

I have a brother and sister in law who live in south NS, Shelburne. They post rides on trails that look pretty nice. I'd lean to getting a gravel bike if I were you, can't go too far wrong with a gravel bike..

I do the same with my work commute! Check out the hybrid forums for a lot of stuff on seats and other upgrades.
