Swimming is the best exercise you can do. It works every major muscle group and is low impact. When I lived on the north shore of Oahu and surfed I was in the best shape of my life.

Can you just buy exercise offsets and save yourself the time of working for them? Seems like they'd be cheaper than carbon offsets? Just find some stoner and pay him to set around watching tv eating cheesy poofs.

Almost all the fastest cyclists I have known were cross country skiers in the off season.
Ironically, this past winter I went skiing with my neighbor, who is a very fast cyclist. He is fit and strong, but I am a more experienced skier and I guess I put a bit of hurt on him on the skiis that day. We weren't out together again until cycling season, and I believe he was trying his best to remind me that I may be the faster skier but not the faster cyclist.

In fact cycling at a high level, your body takes calcium from your bones. Studies have found even amateur racers with low bone density, because of this.
Hence weight bearing activities like running and weightlifting are good for maintaining bone density.
