I had a thought....
We should burn a few cycling DVD,s and have them as permanent components of the box,
everyone has the box long enough to watch a flick or two,
I would like to watch-
"legends of the tour , eddy Merckx"
and I am sure some of us have a few other good titles...

Just got back from a late Christmas visit to grandkids that had been postponed a week due to flu type issues.
And there on the doorstep was the Box of Crap waiting for me, perfect end to the year.

I'll see if I can upload the cell phone pics with the phone browser.

I'll rummage thru the contents and will get this package on it's way again hopefully by this weekend if not sooner.
I already have an idea of a few items I can put to use. Hopefully what I add back in will be usefull to someone else down the line.

Happy New Year.

I have a couple of questions to get me up to speed on this, then I'll need a judgement call.

Is there still supposed to be a map and some sort of decals in the box? If so then I think those items went missing.

Then, one of the cranks in the box has a busted ear. Not sure if anyone can use it as is or not, I'm thinking not. My spare crankarms are buried in a corner of the garage for winter storage, I can try to find some time to dig my way back to them but it might have to wait until thos weekend. If I can get to the tub I should be able to come up with a replacement crankarm that I don't need and will chuck the broken one from the box into the scrap pile. But if someone thinks they can use it then speak up soon and I'll leave it in there.

I will also grab a fresh box tomorrow since the one I had went elsewhere.

As to sharing dvd movies, I'm not sure how well a disc would survive bouncing around inside the box with all the crap.

I hope I'm not breaking a rule, but I did put in the triple crank with one broken tab. I posted a thread about it a while back and someone suggested it can still be reused by someone looking to just a small ring up front, so I figured someone here could use it instead of hiding away in my bin.

Yeah, I was thinking chop and contour the remaining ears and run it as a low speed single ringer. I'll play with that idea overnight and give it some thought.

edit: okay, I thought about it and will claim that crankarm set as one of my removed items.
Just need to check the compatibility of one other item and I'll have my items selected. Will post a pic and estimated shipping date tomorrow or Thursday.

The issue is about the required picture of the items removed,
that is the rule, please play by the rule.

regarding the DVD,s
if they are in a small plastic case they should be just fine.hey not a big risk as they are copy's

I'd say the crank could theoretically still be used with two chainrings -- the bolt will keep the rings from moving laterally, and the other four will keep the rings from rotating on the crank. The only problem might be a tendency of the bolt to warp the chainrings inward at that point if you didn't devise a shim.

It would definitely work fine for a low-geared single-speed MTB just using the granny.

As someone has already noted, YouTube is full of cycling vids; I'm personally aligned against anything that would slow down the box's delivery.

New ideas/rules? Start a new box/game; let's observe KISS with this one

Oh, and this thread is useless without pictures.

Happy New Year, C&V!

frantik brought up a good point in the other thread -- does the skinsuit fit? We need to get back to what's important here.

All the crap is re-boxed and ready to go, plan to mail it out during lunch tomorrow.

Items removed pictured below. The two tires (thank you very much) will go onto my late 80's Schwinn Letour to replace the rock hard old tires currently on it.
The Wellgo pedals will end up on a commuter bike.
The Dawes bar plugs will probably end up on a Raleigh 3-speed since the plugs have bulb holder holes and I plan to put an older light with bulbs onto the Raleigh.
Cranks and small chainring will be whittled and carved and put onto a yet to be determined project, maybe an internal geared hub fishing bike to tow a trailer and cooler down to the lake or a local stream.
Skewer might wind up being used with the trainer so I don't mangle up a nicer one.

This has been fun. The box is more stuffed now and is slightly bulging but should be okay.

"next"

This might be against the rules, but I hope those Wellgos work out for you -- the seller of my Bianchi Premio threw them in and I had no use for them.
