Asians in the Tour De France?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i also wanted to say that my mom is asian. not sure what kind, but she is from turkey so i know she is asian. she don't like bikes. she falls and crys when near one. therefore i don't think she could ride in france. because they don't like crybabies. the french that is. i read it in the journal of science.

Everyone could be a NASCAR driver though.

The cunning Chinee makes the best worker. They have shorter nerves so they feel less fatigue and pain. With the proper coercion, I'm sure we could field respectable team. Plus they would have very clean uniforms. Musettes full of Goo Filled Egg Rolls. (Ha Ha, i can make Asian jokes cux I'm Asian).

Do we really want the Chinese to start bicycle racing training camps. They would start recruiting kids in elementary school, yank them from their families, "train" them, weed out the weak ones - dump them, etc. Ask Yao Ming. He still has to give a cut to the Govt so he can play.

Well, Vinokourov is Asian, and he's a damn good cyclist. They are out there, just few and far between, unfortunately.

actually, there are many "asians" in the tour, I'd say more than 50%, like Giant, Cervelo, BMC, Orbea, Specialized, etc

If you are going to go that route.. then that asian number is much closer to 100% then we think..

David Millar holds a UK racing license, but he grew up in Hong Kong and considers that city to be his home.

Ekimov is Asian. Russia is in Asia.

Maybe you should specify 'Far East', or (gasp) Japanese, Chinese, Mongolian, Cambodian, Filipino, Laotian, Vietnamese, Korean, Indonesian, Indian...etcetera.

3) why the hell would you even raise pro-cyclists?
4) olympics are technically amateurs, I know olympic cyclists who were not picked up professionally, and certainly not by pro-tour teams.
5) there is a kid in the projects down the street from me who can ride a wheelie for a mile easily, he's not getting picked up by the pro-teams.

What part of Russia is he from? The western part of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, etc.) is in Europe. Only the eastern part of Russia is in Asia.

Fang Xu rides for Skil-Shimano -- not a TDF team, but still a pro. It's just a matter of time.
