27.5 x 2.6 tires for standard 23mm rims

Are there any 2.6 that are not wide trail? I'm sure 2.6 inch tires would work better with 30mm rims but I don't want to spend the money on new rims. I'm riding a 2015 Giant Anthem sx with 135 mm rear wheel and as most newer bikes are 142 mm or 148 mm width I feel it would be throwing away money. In the next few years I'd like to purchase a plus bike but for now I'd like to keep riding the Anthem. I see the Kenda Hellkat doesn't state that they need wide rims but I could have missed it. I know Maxxis states that the 2.6 inch needs wide rims but other manufacturers don't.

None of them "need" wide rims they will just work a lot better on wide rims.

More roll over, more psi needed to hold up those big tires on skinny rims. Defeats the purpose. Not going to work well.
