Hi Rob,
Thanks for the response. Realistically I am not in the market for another De Rosa at present.
I am currently working towards re-building a De Rosa 'Candy Apple Red' from 1978 that still has it's original paintwork with some associated storage scratches and knocks that require attention.
My latest Italian project looks to be a very low use example of a 1978 frame with few signs of use otherwise. Was an Ebay purchase so there is some damage to the bank account albeit towards the low end compared to what some sellers are asking price wise.
Back to to the bike shop De Rosa.....
I am just going through a 'Study anything De Rosa steel frame and attempt to put a date to it phase'. Wanted any prospective buyer of the frame to be aware that it is unlikely that the bike frame you published was built in 1977.
The heart in heart on the bottom bracket makes me think the frame is mid eighties or later but more photo's are required. There is some writing on the top tube, near the steerer as well but I am unable to read it from your supplied photo. Could be a clue or perhaps it is just the PO's name, cannot tell.
The bike looks great and hopefully finds a nice home whatever it's actual vintage is.
With only one photo to go on it is difficult but I suspect that the frame is later than 1977 and that it has been fitted with a earlier Campag groupset.
The top tube brake cable eyelets (from what little I can see of them) are a 1979 onwards variety. The heart within a heart on the bottom bracket also makes me think the frame is quite a bit later than 1977.
The head tube decal, on the pictured bike, was introduced in 1980.
Any chance you took additional photo's?
Looks to be in good condition.[/
Will do. I’m in Boise for the 3-day weekend. When I get back I’ll snap a bunch.
I can deliver to Japan if you are going to Eroica.

is this a gran jubilee/touring? Loving the eye to detail with the classy brooks bar wrap and the compact double. Not to mention, the inline cross lever. If this is reynolds/vitus tubing throughout, it would be worth it for the parts alone.

A Ross Super Gran Tour with a 90s flare
3 bikes for 60bucks. Two of them leave much to be desired (walmart bmx), but the third lurking in the background now might have some potential. Nineties Ross Super Gran Tour? My guess is as good as yours.

So I guess I'm saying it's a 59.7cm.

I've always wondered..
Whether converting a straight top tube bike to 650b would warrant a frame size up to make up for the slightly smaller wheels. Apparently one can make adjustments by lowering crank arm lengths to make up for the difference in frame size. Anywho, here's a looker from the PNW: a seventies trek,in chestnut brown.
