Fantasy Tour of California + TOC discussion!
in case you missed the fantasy giro deadline or wanna double-dip and run two tours at once, the fantasy tour of california is
up and running. there are no forced categories like "climbers," "all-rounders'" or "sprinters;" pick whomever you like.
it's only 7 seven stages worth of excitement so it's not a long follow. info is:
www.velogames.com/tour-of-california/2018/
league name: bike forums
league code: 907061111
deadline is 20:30 cest on sunday, may 13th!!
some great riders going so plenty of room for non-fantasy discussion as well.

I'll start the discussion: I get this first stage is perhaps a showcase for the fans, but is a super-flat circuit stage specifically for the sprinters where the entire field is more or less going to get the same time not a waste of time? They're just counting laps until the 3-4 big guys can do their thing the last 30 seconds. At least a sprint stage out on the open road with some elevation gain will challenge/tire the peloton, thus playing a role in the overall dynamic of the race. If this had been the final stage, ala the TdF, if might make sense, but this is the opener.

It's effectively a preview stage.

the geographical start/finish location guaranteed a sprint finish given the flatitudes of the area. they coulda done a prologue but not sure that would have been better/worse.
long beach would have been a decent starting town enroute to a mountains finish in the santa ana mountains/foothills, palomar mountain or idyllwild.

Stage 3 finish (without a spoiler): loved watching the winner's expressions as he came across the line this afternoon.

I'm on an Amazon fireTV box. Don't know if the apps are the same across all the players for streaming video. So check if your app needs updating.

ended up driving to santa barbara on monday to catch the gibraltar stage but then just decided against it and rode elsewhere. did see a ton of cyclists in the general area
which is always nice. in other news the fantasy toc team is ranked 4526 out of 4549 so there's that. rooting yet again for a dfl finish to claim the maglia nera of the golden state.

We will be seeing a lot more of Bernal.
If you missed the Tour of Romandie, then you missed a great dual between him and Roglic. That is something I think we will see again.

weirdo glitchy glitch with the leagues on the toc fantasy stuff...split the league i registered into two leagues with some crossover.
we had Twin Otto with gxbx winning one "bike forums" league with 2960 points and Mikawa Bay Dreams with San Pedro winning the other with 2622 points.
Congrats to both!

I'll take the one I won! I noticed two leagues on both, but I thought one was for ToC and the other was the Giro.
I should have taken Caleb Ewin over Kittel, I don't even like Kittel.
