Suggestions for clip-less shoes

I do a lot of trail biking that requires a lot of hike a biking so i'm looking for suggestion for some clip-less shoes that also is good for hiking the trails while carrying or pushing your bike along the trail.

I currently have a pair of Scott’s Elite Boa and really liked them so far but after a year of use they are starting to break down in a few of the seams. I'm hoping that my next pair for shoes will last me a little bit more than one year.

I like walking around in my Shimano shoes. I have crossed logs in them carrying my bike on my shoulder.

If you can find a pair of NOS Shimano MT-91 boots in your size, they are excellent, I use them for touring, hiking mountains and riding my MTB. If you can't find those then the XM-9 is the replacement model. Both have Vibram hiking soles and are really well put together. I have both, but I'm still waiting for the MT-91s to die, and damn it's taking a long time, I may even end up wearing out the soles...

I tried flat pedals with pins and five ten shoes, and stopped using clipless. Five Ten's use specific rubber that grips pedals with pins. One of the top mountain biking racers (sam hill) rides only with flats and five tens and he keeps winning races.

If you're walking a long carrying the bike for significant distances that's what I'd use.
