Peugeot vintage bike help

I have a older Peugeot bicycle straight bar with white bar do and white cable housing. The bike is orange an chrome toward the bottom of the front fork. It has an original pump attached to it and springs on the seat. The seat on the rear is labeled Peugeot. It has a small leather pouch with a bike repair patch and a couple of wrenches. This bike is in like new condition all I did was change the tires as they were dry rotted. It shines like a new car. I have lots of photos but just found that I can not post until I have 10posts. If anyone know what I may have any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My guess, if this is a men's frame it sounds like a UO-8 with a straight bar conversion, if a mixte it's a UO-18. That orange is a nice color.

I can't wait so I can post a picture it just seems to me like no other that I can find a pickier of online with the white bar ends and cable housing.

Pic of a mixte from the Web. Does this one look like yours?

And a men's.

It looks a bit like the top but it is a mens bar that goes straight across and I do not think that the handlebars are as curved as what you show there. it is more of a straight handle bar.

No it does not have fenders nor does it look like that it ever did. The tires were 27x1-1/4 if that helps at all.

The bar on that orange mixte is actually more of a 3-speed bend than a Peugeot of that vintage would normally have. Bars can be changed pretty easily, much moreso than paint. Here's another pic with a bar that may be more like yours, and there are other bars from the time with even less rise and pullback.

wow that is gorgeous! The base bike appears to be a UO-8 from somewhere around 1974 or so, and looks like the bars and seat are original.

edit: had a look at the catalogs at BikeBoomPeugeot and the 1974 UE19 has those bars and seat but also a generator, lights and fenders.....

That original frame pump and cool mini seat bag are probably worth more than the bike lol, seriously ride it and smile they made literally millions of them but there is something about the ride of a Peugeot that they definitely got right. Chapeau. and Orange isn't that common a color, not exactly rare but not a dime a dozen. I found this site to be great for researching old Peugeot's

i see no place where fenders were mounted although I am told that where this was dug out from some reflectors and other things have been found so hopefully it is something that goes with the bike.

the originals were dry rotted so I picked up a pair that I thought would give a decent ride.and look ok on the bike as well.

yes i I think I really like the frame pump and the seat bag. With some original tools and a patch I have no intention of getting rid of it, I can’t wait to get it on the rail trail. This beauty will be a conversation piece. It was so filthy when I got it I was shocked how easy it cleaned up... says a lot for Peugeot.

If you look on the rims, you should find a date code to the right of "Rigida Chrolux", in a diamond, like <74>. Some years have a date code on the hubs, beneath "Normandy", like 11 74. That will give you the year of manufacture. Though the bike is certainly a UO-8 model, my guess is that the bars and seat were a dealer change-out when the bike was bought new, since they are period-correct for the year (would have come standard on a UO-18 ladies bike). Probably bought for a female rider who didn't want a drop-bar bike with racing-style seat, and didn't want a ladies frame without the straight top-tube, so they had the dealer make the changes when purchased.

that makes sense to me as a possibility of what has happened here
