What kind of Bike?
What Crank?
Only on the Left?
How old are the components?
What Color is the bike? (just kidding)

Some Possibilities:
Loose Crank Arm
Bad Bottom Bracket
Bad Chain-ring and or Cog
Bad Chain
Cracked Frame

Need more info to be more helpful to you.

My click when going slowly uphill turned out to be an extra bearing in one of my rather inexpensive after-market pedals. I retorqued a lot of other things before that came to light.

The sacred and rare KLUNK noise at twelve o'clock is a happy and blessed event!

Rejoice and be proud!

Oh, wait... it happens when you're pedalling up to the bank?

Ooooh... that's not so good...

Bank security guards tend to frown on the KLUNK noise, at any time during banking hours.

Better not ride your bike to the bank, I'd say.

Now, if instead, it turns out to be a ''clik" noise, like that one you had back in 2004, well, I'd say you'd better just forget about pedalling altogether.

Hi
It was the chain hitting the cage - there was not the 1-3mm clearance above the largest chainwheel to the cage
Thanks for the help and response
regards
