By the way, do you know why there's no S4? Because 4 is an unlucky number in Taiwan, that's why. Bear this in mind.

A bucket of wings from the local Klan-owned KFC is not the same.

I found this on Bike Radar
Prices for various complete S5 bikes are as follows:

Those bike prices are essentially what my LBS has. The frame alone will probably be in the $3k-$3200 range. But that's speculation.
Cervelo has taken a page from the Shimano Marketing Playbook.

In other words, even the authorized dealers are wondering what the pricing will really be. WhatEVER. Good news is that the S2, my bike, Assassin's bike, the original aero bike, that one is sticking around in the line. And you would think that if an S5 frame is in the low $3K range, the price on S2 frames will drop.

We can all agree on this: cable routing stupidity aside, Cervelo does make the best bikes on the planet. Canadian though they may be.

Correct. I am glad the S2 is sticking around. BBwrong is just wrong, until more crank manufactures climb aboard.

Don't eff up my blog by pointing out the inconsistencies and blatant errors in my rumor-mongering.
By the way you can use a non BB right crank with an adapter on those newer Cervelo frames, although you give up a few points in stiffness.

Yeah, but as you point out you loose stiffness, because you have to go with 24mm cranks. I'm a schwag addict just like you, and I really love my Lightning crank aside from the ridiculous logo. If I ever have a chance to try to fit it on a BBwrong bike, and I can get it to work, well then....I'm gonna be more broke than I already am.

The difference between my c. 2008 Cervelo P3 TT bike and the c. 2007 Cannondale Six13 that it replaced is just remarkable. The Cervelo is a magnitude of order better than than older Cdale in every respect. Very happy with that bike.

What did you ride before the S2, if you don't mind me asking?

I had high hopes this new Cervelo would be so schwagalicious, I would instantly begin to covet it. Price point is good (as opposed to the S3), but it falls into the same category for me as the Venge and Foil. Pretty cool, but nothing worth coveting.

It appears so, since they priced it out of being sensible. Then again there are plenty of idiots, that would buy it just because the S2/S3 bikes look so damn good, and they have more money than brains. That being said, I don't mind the red stripe on my S2, or the extra weight. It's still light enough.

In answer to the gun nut's question, I had a Cannondale Six13 before the S2. And I've been riding on an Ibis Ti Road for 15+ years too. The thing about the S2 that blows me away is that it is a state of the art aero CF race bike with a stiff BB, but it rides as comfortably as that Ibis Titanium Road bike. That's amazing.

Cervelo's website has the MSRP of the frame alone pegged @ $3800. That means if I bust my LBS's balls they'll sell me one for $3400 or less. My S2 frame would bring $1500 or so on eBay. Then I'd need a new crankset too.
I'll wait for the S6. I am very happy with my current Cervelos.

Meh. Aesthetically it's not interesting, looks like a hybrid TT bike/road bike but with none of the sexiness of either bikes. As for performance I'll start listening when there's a bike that will change my experience so dramatically that it will make my head spin; telling me that the frame is .2% more aero in a wind tunnel means nothing to me.
