Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

noob question about geometry

I have some noob questions. I have been riding for a little over a year and am beginning to research the next step up to a nicer bike...currently have a jamis ventura sport (sora, aluminium).
what exactly should i be looking for when someone says geometry? how will i know on a ten minute bike ride how comfortable a bike will be on a 2+ hour ride?
Thanks guys!

You won't, a ten minute ride can in no way ever translate into how something will feel for a two hour ride, unless something is terribly wrong on the ten minute ride, becuase if it feels good for ten minutes, it might kill you in two hours.
