Making a kilometer blurry
Self driving cars can safely become extremely "aggressive" when they make up the majority of cars.
Things like tailgating at high speed aren't that dangerous if the cars are in constant communication with each other. If the lead car detects a problem it can order all of the follow cars to begin braking simultaneously instead of each driver having to observe and react.
The book Critical Mass by Phillip Ball touched on the science of traffic jams and pointed out that in areas of high traffic density a single unneeded braking event can create congestion that actually moves opposite to the flow of traffic and can end up far away from location of the mistake. They found that in certain circumstances everyone is safer if nobody has fully functioning brakes... kind of like track racing.

I took a year of astronomy, and our instructor took us out to watch traffic patterns at rush hour. It was interesting watching all the cars on 36 coming into Boulder, and the density waves progressing through the traffic. The waves would move forward for something like an RV traveling 50mph in 65mph traffic. Cars enter the density wave at 65mph, and go through it at 51mph, then exit at 65mph. Then the braking waves you mentioned from Critical Mass were very obvious. Sometimes the wave would be pretty much stationary, but most of the time, it traveled backwards with a trail of slower traffic in front of it.
All of this was to understand some of the theories of how spiral arms form in galaxies (density waves from many stars near each other).

The problem in most places is public transportation is so slow. Out here in the Inland Empire, my commute is 15 miles. This is 20 minutes by car, and over 2 hours by public transportation. Granted, if more people took it things would be more efficient, but still wouldn't be as fast as the car. It works in the cities because things are condensed, but in sparse areas its just not efficient enough.
When I lived in Santa Clarita my drive to work was about 45 minutes, and 2 hours if it rained or there was a crash in the pass. I would take the train and it took 35 minutes with a 3 minute walk at the end. I did have a short drive to the train station from the house.

Terrible day after work. So my fiance is getting a degree/credential in Dental Hygiene and she needs a patient for one of her tests...teeth x-rays.
I swear I thought my pain tolerance was pretty high but she put these little film things in my mouth and told me to squeeze while she takes an x-ray. She got super nervous because the other dentist was grading her and she needed to do the x-rays fairly quickly. After a few tries of her trying to get it in my mouth without pain, I told her to just be quick and I'll endure the pain..
The pain was a solid 10/10, off the charts type of pain. You're squeezing this thing into your gums that feels like a knife. I sucked it up and told her to continue with her test because I wanted her to pass. It was so bad that by the time she walked back from the x-ray button back into the room I had tears running down my eyes and I was tomato red(according to her).
The whole experience was painful as hell, I am not sure I want to ever volunteer myself for her tests...

I've had some uncomfortable at about 2/10
To help her practice, act like a real patient and say "Excuse me, it really hurts my gums, can we try again ?" Get some experience with people, not just the equipment.

The turbo is a better every day car due to AWD and you can put skis on the rack as well, but a 997 GT3 with a manual would be a nice way to transport a bike. 991's catch on fire too much for my liking.

If I lived in Austin I would wait in line for one of these. 99 beers for 99 bucks. 7'4" long, 82 pounds. The 99 pack. Brilliant.

Or maybe he just has a cover on partially to cover the open roof?
As a fellow exotic owner (though nothing of that level!), I would a) never park against a wall that has outside elements b) park next to a stairwell where people will frequently see the car.
Here's mine at work. I park in the basement. There are about 4 Audi S4s and some bmw convertibles, but nothing on the lambo scale. Even with a 50 story office building of lawyers:

One of my coworkers has a Maserati Granturismo. It's easy on the eyes and ears.
There's also a couple that heads out for nooners in the office parking garage about 3 times/week. But nobody knows!!! Sshhh! (in a Rav 4)

How often does it get "keyed" for taking 2 parking spaces ?

I park in the basement where there are plenty of spaces, not many people know how to even get down there. The spaces are actually very narrow, and if a person parks next to me I literally can't open my door. It's more for me than protection. Getting in a car like this is not easy, and I need room!
