Hit a new PR on the ride this morning. Fastest I've done that route. 2nd fastest time that I made it up my 13% hill. I used to purposefully dodge that hill, but now I go to several times a week to beat it. Getting stronger

6-11 a breezy 19.2 miles with 846 feet, just circling the city. Funny how there was only 2 hills on the entire ride and neither was steep or long.

Funny how that works out once you get stronger on the bike. There's a sign on one segment of the towpath that alerts users that there's a 12% grade ahead, every time I see it I cringe at the thought of such a climb (I only ride this path once or twice a year) but then 20 miles later I'm asking myself where the hill is. Never seems more than just a speed bump. I don't know if there's a true 12% grade or if the trail maintenance crew put the sign there to fool guys like me, that reasoning sounds far fetched though.

6/9 31.0mi 1099ft. - Tues shop ride. Recovered from the century much faster than the previous ones. Still need more fitness, though!
6/10 31.1mi 1358ft. - Wed. group. Handful of PRs on hills, really fun ride. Starting to really like this group. Attacked on the two contested hills, one was given to me out of pity, the other I thought I was being sneaky but was found out and taught a lesson in humility.
MTD 208.0/750mi, 9012/30000ft
Birthday ride tomorrow.

The next week I ended up on a hill I had always struggled on. It wasn't even a bad hill compared to others I ride regularly, but there was just something about it that kept me defeated. I set a PR on the hill that ride, and every ride since that has gone up it.
Your brain can really flatten/raise hills.

I did a ride on May 30 that was built around 7, ~500ft climbs, all pretty steep. The worst two had sections above 20%, one getting close to 30% for a short while. I was zigzagging curb to curb on that, and if it had been much longer I'd probably have had to dismount.
The next week I ended up on a hill I had always struggled on. It wasn't even a bad hill compared to others I ride regularly, but there was just something about it that kept me defeated. I set a PR on the hill that ride, and every ride since that has gone up it.

Was going to go last night. We had a little weather in Denver.
Okay, to be fair that's been that way a few weeks but it's raining here like Seattle, not Denver

This week's 200-plus definitely took its toll on me. I slept over 10 hours last night. Passed out after dinner, actually. I suspect it was the heat and humidity that did it. I also stayed up late a couple nights during the week, which probably did not help.

My goal for this month is 150 miles. As of today (6/12) I have 54.32 miles in. I have at least one long ride (40+mi) planned for the month so I am doing pretty good towards my goal.

Fed up, I took the bike 2 hrs back to Performance Bike to get them to look at it. Guess what? NO GREASE!!! The only place there was grease on the spindle was where the non-drive crank arm connects. The look on the mechanics face was priceless. All fixed now.
