Finally made a decision!
After going to numerous LBS and trying a lot of bikes, I found a shop I really like. The guy was super patient and even helped me learn how to get started pedaling easier (after an embarrassing incident where I lost my balance & rolled my ankle). I went back to the shop over two weeks later, and he remembered me.
I decided to go with the Jamis Coda Sport because I liked the idea of the Reynolds steel and the way the bike feels when I ride. I thought I wanted a WSD, but after trying the unisex & then the femme model, I realized I felt scrunched up and kept pushing back in the saddle to get further from the handle bars. (And I remember feeling that on other bikes, too.) I got a great deal since it's a 2013 model. I'm so excited to finally have a bike! I took it out for a couple miles right after I got home even though it's been a long week at school. (I'm a teacher.)

Congrats! Looks just like mine. Good choice--it's a really great bike.

Congrats! I just bought one of these myself about a month ago! 
After riding a 38lb comfort bike, (with fork and seatpost suspension), all summer, the Jamis took some getting used-to, but it's been a very satisfying change overall! I've only been able to put about 150 miles on my new Jamis so far, but I'm really loving it!

Nice bike, Janelle! You made the right choice in going with the bike that "felt" right. That's often a good first indicator. I take it you're not considering going with clipless pedals?

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to really know this bike. Although I had a bike as a kid and teenager, I'd classify myself as a super beginner. Yesterday, I just rode up and down the two cul-de-sacs I live on learning the gears and getting comfortable with changing them. I'm kind of clumsy, and my brain doesn't think well kinesthetically! However, riding yesterday, I felt like a kid again. It's exhilarating!
How'd you guess? I'm afraid I'd break a leg if I tried using clipless pedals!

Congrats on your new bike! I just ordered a new bike today and share you new bike giddiness even though I won't actually see my bike for a couple weeks.
Plan on starting out riding in my neighborhood as well, I've never owned a bike with gears and haven't rode a bike in 20+ years. :-/
I'm in the Atlanta area as well and can't wait to hit the Beltline and some of the other paved paths around town! :-)

Haha! Well, I've never used a clipless system before but just received my pedals and shoes in the mail yesterday and mounted everything today. Tomorrow is my first go at getting in and out of them (and actual getting underway is important as well, I suppose). If I never reply again.... it didn't go well.

The governor of Ohio (a previous administration) once came through the drive-through window at a camera store where I was one of the management team. He fell in the lawn out front after having picked up his photographic prints. I made sure that he was okay. He loved cycling and spent a lot of time on the bike, but, that might have been his first time out with clipless pedals.
