I agree. I do think the flaring knee helps in shifting my weight over to the outside when initiating the turn, as well as maybe fine tuning the amount of lean I’m hoping to use on that particular turn. Subject to change at any time if I spot a bad pavement or debris.

BUT I have found that once I’m safely leaned over into the turn, it’s best to tuck the knee in, seems to help with aerodynamics, stability. and maybe traction as well. And not scraping your knee on the pavement.
