Did 24 miles at dawn this morning in a dead calm. (Well except for my own self created headwind.) Spent much of it focusing on how fast I could spin without bouncing. At the end of the ride I found that I had bumped my average speed on the ride by .7 mph over my other rides in the last couple of weeks. Seems like the faster I spin the easier I am on my knees, the faster I go and the better my workouts get. I very seldom say anything to my fellow riders who are pedal mashers but I see it all the time.

Rode 30 this morning and did a hill twice that i usually try to avoid. Felt a little weak at first - it had been four days since I rode. After two miles I realized I was stronger than most days. The four days off apparently gave my muscles time to mend. "THE HILL" as I called it four months ago is just a hill now. Beating it twice in one day has really made me feel good. It was not long ago that I could barely walk up it. Down to 224lbs from 259lbs and feeling better than ever. I'm 55 and hadn't ridden in years until recently.

MojojoM,
Congrats on the victory and on the weight loss.

I put in 44 miles this morning. A 29 mile club ride and 15 miles commuting to and from the ride. Good fun with a bunch of young folks who always push up my averages.

Finally back from vacation and did a 16 mile club ride this morning. Wished it was a little longer, but we had new riders and some were having problems with the 16 mile distance. Tomorrow is a 26-30 mile group ride.

Good going MojojoM. Don't be surprised if you begin drawing whistles from some of the cycling women.

Yesterday was to be a riding day was to be a riding day but I was not motivated to get on the bike. Today was hot and humid, 95 F (33 C), and rode 30 miles on the bike path feeling fairly strong. Long sections of the MUP are tree lined and shaded. It you are moving on a bike it is relatively cool or bearable, depending on attitude.

Saw a woman pushing her bike so being a gentleman I asked if all was well or if I could be of assistance. She had flatted but had no patch kit for a fix. We fixed the flat and off she went at a good pace - obviously an experienced cyclist except for no flat kit.

@berner, I think you meant 35ºC.
Good job in that heat. Very chivalrous of you helping with the flat.

Friday was a rest day for me, the mild temps continued today, 77F when I rode this afternoon. I need to check my GPS to see if I wandered off to the Pacific Northwest. Rain everyday for the last week and a half. Ride went very well and I felt good the entire time. I had to wait out the thunderstorms until afternoon so I caught the TdF this morning.

Weather looked unfavorable for the ride in Columbus I had been planning on joining, so I rode a 20 mile loop from home in the morning. Doesn't take long to get out to the dry cornfields.
Then, this afternoon rode downtown to check out the Indy Crit, "the largest USA Cycling race in Indiana". Not a huge crowd but a better location/route than last year. I predict this thing will get bigger every year.

Overslept some and couldn't make the group ride this morning so the wife and I went to the MUP, instead. Still got my 30 miles in but the pace was a bit slower than normal as the place was packed by the time I got toward the end of my first lap. Everyone will be working tomorrow, so I'll kick it up a bit.

57 miles from Chicago to Lake Bluff and back, done by 10:30am!

A great ride with Andrea and Antonio. Held 19+ mph and 160bpm for long, long stretches.

I don't know if you've caught rain this weekend, but if you haven't, just show up at a trailhead with two kids who have never gone mountain biking and see what happens.

36 miles yesterday, 15 today. 2nd and 3rd rides ever on a road bike (Scott CR-1 Comp), sure is a different ride. 1st bike ever being strapped on the pedals, that is a new feeling. Trying to stay in shape while I heal from Plantar Fasciitis that prevents me from running.

Notsureyet, welcome to 50+ and to BF, stick around and join in with us a bit. Your mileage sounds like you are doing well in getting started biking. You might want to try clip-less pedals and shoes for road biking. They will give you better power transfer in your pedal stroke than the platform with a cage and strap. Your Local Bike store (LBS) can help you with this or ask some local riders for their help. Post us a picture on your bike in the main body of the forum and let us know what kind of pie you like after your rides (very important here.)

I rode my usual out and back route this afternoon. Riding felt great with no glitches to complain about. We are back to our normal heat and humidity, 91*F when I rode and around 85% humidity. We had no threat of a thunder storm today, for a change. First day in 2 weeks.

Put in an easy 19 miles this eve. Still a little sore after the pace I set yesterday on the club ride. I wanted to get out and work out the stiffness a bit.

37 windy miles. 80% of my ride was fighting a cross wind or headwind. The ride was a bigger struggle today.
