BBSHD Gear Sensor

I'm planning on buying the BBSHD kit and would like to buy the gear sensor for it. Is this the correct part I need? Also, how do I go about installing it? BAFANG Mid Motor Gear Sensor Mid Drive System Shift Sensor Brake Split Cable:

I didn't get one for my BBS02, and I don't regret it at all, But it's only the price of a pizza/beer and I believe it's easy to install. You run the shift cable thru it.

I didn't get it on my BBSHD kit To shift I just pause peddling very briefly, and than shift. After a while it becomes intuitive and you don't really think about it.

I hear what you guys are saying but I think it will be hard for me to get used to not peddling and shifting at the same time. For example, right now (without the electric kit) when I start peddling from a dead stop and to build speed I'll paddle and then while peddling I'll shift through the gears, I feel if I didn't do that I would lose momentum. Does that make sense?

With a motor like the BBSHD, unless you are climbing one of those Red Bull hills where you die if you blink or falter with the feet, I don't think you will miss the momentum. Anyway, relative to the cost of a BBSHD, it's small.

I depress the brake lever just enough that it activates the motor cut-off, but not enough to initiate braking, before shifting. Easy to get used to, but then I've always had stick shifts on my vehicles.
