VERTIGO: Anyone trying to recover & get riding again?

Late last June Vertigo(BPPV) overtook me
while I was finishing up a job on my computer. It put me in the hospital for
two days and will cost me some major mazuma-- but a month later,
I am doing much better.
Except.... even after experiencing long spells of good balance,
I can still suddenly lose corrective response on the one side or the other & just fall.
I'm wondering if I can learn to use bicycle forward momentum to compensate
while I continue to watch for improvement.

Any Vertigators with sage advice?

There have been some perfect days here in Kansas City.
Two hard rains have swept the roads clear of dust & debris.
I notice all two wheeled traffic with irritation & some envy.
Fairness has nothing to do with it.

.

My problems with vertigo have been relatively minor. When it does act up I can fix it with the Epley Maneuver. Look it up on YouTube.

Thanks. I've watched at least a dozen of the Epley videos and they make sense
but I would need assistance for a maneuver like that.
The self-help versions have done a good job on me. Dr Foster's & several others.

Does it ever reoccur suddenly while you are riding?

older post, but new member- I have Meniere's- Eppley is not an option. I had a vertigo attack on the bike oh- 5 years ago now and hadn't ridden since, I run, but don't ride... then in November we rented me a trike on vacation after a friend had recommended it- upright trike. I am in heaven.. I can ride with no more worries than if I'm sitting in a chair.. So far so good. I bounce off walls more than fall over thankfully. when the world starts spinnign and I'm on 2 feet I stop, and sit if possible, or if there is something nearby grab onto it- even if it is the wall. planning to buy a 7 speed trike in the spring to use to commute (upright as I am not a huge fan of recumbent positioning for me)

Not a doctor, don't play one.

I've had two vertigo episodes three years apart, and I'm still searching (not me on the internet-doctors and tests) for a cause/diagnosis. Both times, I've had enouigh warning to stop what I was doing before I became a disoriented, puking, miserable mess.

After the first, I spent a month going lightly--no solo rides, and avoided the mountains. A month out this time. I've been riding, more inside than out, and will start skiing as soon as the snow justifies it.

I would love to find a reason and a fix, but that failing, I think I'll keep on living.

I have a Doctor ( M.D. ) in our area that prefers to practise Naturalpathic ways,

He's cured a few friends of mine for vertigo. He treats it as a bacteria or parasite.

If you're interested contact me thru P.M.

Cheers

hope they are unique incidents or they find a cause... when I was diagnosed I was up to 200 plus vertigo days/year (yes you read that right), nowadays with treatment its mostly missing meds/being exposed to something that causes an allergy attack or having some sort of headcold that the meds aren't enough to counteract... there are still occasional days wihtout an identifiable cause, but its rare... not almost all the time...

As someone once said- you endure what you need to because you want to live... and eventually hopefully things get better and in my case they did... For some of my patients I have no idea how they go through what they do on a daily basis either.
