In your opinion, what are the worst "fixie" mods on earth?

d!ldo bars
narrow bars
wide bars
aerospokes or other plastic aero wheels
chub hubs
purefix parts
brakeless without foot retention
wrap on only the tops of drop bars and hipster grips
no wrap or grips
overly bright colors

These are mods I hate, but you might love them. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

You might not, but I love this bike. What are your thoughts on it?

Here is a bike I really hate. I call it the neck and back breaker.

Just to let you know, I am not bashing low pro bikes like the pink time trial conversion bike above. I think that the colors and the top tube pad make it look ugly. Here is a time trial conversion that I like.

This Nishiki linear conversion is similar to the pink bike, but much more subtle and well executed. I love this bike. More comfortable seat to bar ratio than the pink bike aswell.

I would say pretty much anything that could be described as, or otherwise be found on a bike that could be described as ‘fixie’, is terrible.

some things that drive me a absolutely nuts though are these type of bars

These clamp on rear fenders

And any plastic or carbon ‘mag’ ‘aero’ or ‘tri spoke’ wheel. Especially in the rear. I won’t hate you for this stuff, but I will hate your bike.

what's wrong with the clip on fenders? They make sense in a place like Southern California where having one permanently installed isn't necessary.

Popular on bull***** sites like ******. Looks great on a mountain bike, but ugly on a streamlined track racing bike. At least the bar tape looks like serfas foam cork styled tape. I have it on my roadie and it is great!

The worst "fixie" mods on earth are when some fixiefoo who is new to a group or forum tries to buy popularity there by starting repetitive stupid threads ridiculing others' bikes...

nothing is wrong with the function, they are just ugly as hell. There are other options. It’s all an aesthetics thing. Something like a musguard or similar is a much better looking and better working solution to that problem. There are quite a few options for various frame types. This type just happens to rub me the wrong way like an aerospoke on a purefix.

I bought Serfas tape once (ribbon) because they had some cool designs. Got it out of the box and the rolls were not long enough to wrap a single side of the handlebar. Was probably the most bull**** thing I've ever encountered with bar tape.

Idk about the ribbon tape, but here is the same foam tape on my roadie. Only 1 box. My bars are pretty wide for road drops.

Middle schoolers I heard like to wrap their bikes in electrical tape. They call it "skunking" their bike. Found this beauty off the interweb.

I don't get the appeal of aerospokes. They look ugly and are heavier as well as more flexible than a normal wheel. The people who ride them always say that it is easier to get a lock through and it will last longer. Rubbish. Whey we were little, those cheap kids bikes had plastic wheels that warped in the sun, same thing with aerospokes. It is just posing to look like a track wheel.

Hulo, im new here.
So the thing i dont like about "fixie" bikes is when people put playing cards in their spokes. It drives me nuts.

Also is the whole back wheel larger than the front a bad thing... I kind of like the aggressive look...

From one single speed biker, who took it from bikesnobNYC " I once read someone describe the look as a bike that was ridden through trash and picked up some on the way".
