If it's in good operating condition, then yeah; it's worth that just for the parts.

Any bike in line=new condition for $55 is a good deal.

What year? if it is an old-scholl rigid MTB from the late 19190's that is a super score. Tons of fun, go almost anywhere, do almost anything, can be set up for street or trail or dense woods for anything except flight and oceanic voyages. Fairly simple and nearly indestructible.

I think later models and more modern ones might have a front shock .... but if it is "like new" condition, no problem.

And for $55---I might pay that for a bike which needed maintenance and repair just to get the chromoly frame.

Can't tell without detailed pictures. A bike that is at least 20 years old should be given a complete overhaul to make sure that all bearings are properly lubricated. If it hasn't been serviced recently the grease could have become rock hard

I would figure tires, tubes, and cables, plus a total clean and regrease---but if it really is in "like new" condition, then the really worrying items --wheel bearings, headset bearings, bottom bracket bearings---should all be fine. For $50-$100 you will have a lifetime bike---if it really is "like new."
