Trek 710 in my favorite color

Obviously my sentimentality is going to add a little to the price, but what would you think is a decent price for this beauty?

One thing I appreciate about old Treks is that they are a hodge podge of parts and this bike is no exception. Are those campy hi flange hubs? Campy cranks? Those are shimano pedals and brakes right? That's an unusual bar and stem. I'd value this bike in the neighborhood of $400 but I live in a smallish city in the middle of the USA; you live in Portland and bike prices are higher there. Full disclosure, I am a fan of this generation of Treks and own two (a 1978 TX 900 and a 1979 510).

yes, Campy high flange hubs laced to Ambrosio rims. It says everything is Campy Gran Sport except the Weinmann brakes, which is an unusual pairing. Oh, and of course the Titan stem and bars.

If I'm looking to buy and see worn bar tape, then I assume that the bike needs a full overhaul. As is, and in my area, I'd offer around $250.

I think the rear then is a first gen campy gran sport and the FD and shifters are nuovo gran sport? That's an odd combo if that's right.

The Titan bar and stems are worth some coin, right? I dunno but they look like they might be. I have no experience with them.

This is a really nice bike. If it were my size and I wanted it, I talk myself into paying some money for this.

First a couple quick pieces of info will help a lot are you selling or buying and is this bike your size as setup looks to be a fairly big bike 22.5 inch frame with DT's means a 6 foot plus stronger rider with some experience on older style drops? Based on color size it is a 80/81 frame set likely sold frame set only and shop built it would be nice to see the shop sticker likely under the pump on the seat post. As for value this ones hard to price if you know what it is and it's your size I could see paying as high as $400 as is. If selling I would sell as is and ask $250 pretty firm.

It's funny because my valuations usually come at the low end and this time I'm at the high end.

This is a low temp silver brazed Trek with a full Reynolds 531 frame and the paint job looks very good. The late 70s Treks are, IMO, some of the finest vintage frames you can buy.

Oof, I was prepared to pay quite a bit for this, but not this much :

Funny as I waited until today to post it because I was terrified someone in here would snatch it from under me

Kinda shocked at the estimates I'm seeing under $500; I know the Midwest is swimming in Treks and Portland bike prices are high, but I thought given the good condition and the components y'all would say $500.

Appears to be a bigger frame than 22.5".

Well, since you're all quoting around $250-$300... feel free to send me your Trek 510/710/910 in this size and color and I'll gladly pay that for it!

If you check the bike out, and it has good tires, cables, brakes, and chain, and it has been fully overhauled with new grease, then $500 may be a good deal in Portland. But, to me, that bar tape points towards a bike that likely needs some work.

Maybe true, but I've never bought a bike that didn't need some work.

In this case, I just wanted the frame and was going to sell the components to eat up some of the high cost.

During the pandemic, I've seen the price of these full 531 Treks really shoot up. Don't know if the days of sub-$300, high end Treks are gone forever, but they've been priced more like the OP's bike for awhile now, even in less than perfect condition. Shame, because they were among the best deals, around. Really like that 710, by the way.

I'm sad because I'm in the market for one, but I'm glad that they are being appreciated for what they're worth.
