Traveller

I can't post a picture, but if you go to Craigslist Lansing, Michigan, There's an 85 Schwinn Traveler I'm picking up tomorrow. 175$ . It's gorgeous. Under bicycles.

Very nice bike. My friend used to have one just like that that he paid $12 for at salvage army maybe 13 years ago or so. I got into road bikes after trying his Schwinn Traveler.

I have an early 1988 Traveller and while I haven’t been riding in on a regular basis, do find it an enjoyable bike to ride. Perhaps I’ll put it in the “rotation” for the upcoming riding season 😎. I bought mine for $100 or $125 (can’t remember for sure) when it was about 10 years old. It needed a “fluff & buff” but was in overall great condition. For a near pristine 1985 Traveller, I don’t think that $175 in out of line. RE: potential for a stuck seat post, while the possibility is real, I’m not sure that it would be a deal breaker for me. Once I got it home, I’d be very careful (and patient) in removing the seat post so as not to end up with a scarred post. Lots of tips and tricks here and on the internet for doing so.
Nice bike! Would like to read more about the seat post status in future replies.

Schwinn Traveler

Picked it up this afternoon. I found a few minor dings in the paint. Seat post will need looking after. A bit of a zigzag scratch . Wheels are true and all spokes tight. They need to be shined up. Double butted spokes. Belgium made Weinmann hoops. French made Schwinn approved hubs. No signs of wear any place. Atom 77 freewheel has virtually no wear. Bike appears to have been ridden just a few times. No corrosion. All fasteners are new looking. Bar foam is drying out.
