That is a very nice weld. The bead is nice and even, but i am most impressed by how even the HAZ line is. That speaks to good torch control and proper travel speed. Kudos!

Maybe my tallbike should be stainless.

If you guys haven't noticed outside your local grocery store or bought some already because some cute peddlers came to your doorstep, girl scout cookie season is upon us.

Its a scam, I've read the ingredients, they're not really made from girl scouts.

Oh, I know it. My kid sells them, and I do her sales with her outside at stores. I'm planning this year to let several of my friends know who work at and operate various local dispensaries, and give them our schedule for when and where we'll be. Benefit of living on the state line between Portland and Vancouver.

Today I: repacked some vintage low-end campy veloce hubs. Quality wise, they were like the hubs that came out the campy factory on a Friday.

Today I did a bar swap on my SS Carve. Took off a wide bar and threw on a Cinelli Pepper riser that I ordered at the end of last year. Finally got around to messing with it. I regret not doing it sooner. Feelsogood.exe found. It goes against everything I have learned about mountain biking, especially with the super short stem on there. The bike feels like it came alive. Once the 700x38 slicks go back on, this thing is gonna haul!!

Also installed the rear brake. Did a swap about a month ago from road BB7's/bullhorn back to a riser and Shimano hydraulics. Got lazy and only did the front and left the rear off. Finally got that taken care of. Would love to have the cables cut, system bled and what not, but that seems like a waste of money and time.

First day at the shop today, learning the ropes and getting product knowledge down, but this is a cool gig. Not paid very much, but I like doing its, so its chillin.

Been racking my brain trying to think of what I want for my next cross bike. I'm really tempted to go custom with a frame with sliding dropouts so I can run SS or 1x10 but when I look at the price I just get depressed.

I've been thinking about something like this for a while. I have a 1x10 Deore group sitting on the shelf. Need to find an old 26" Specialized, Kona, etc. frame so I can build up something relatively affordable to lock up.

Not bad suggestions, the private Jake is close but it's more of a gravel bike, and the soma is just ugly. I'm looking for a true cross bike and being very picky.

I think I did a FTP test today. 95% of 20 min average power was 248W, so I'm at 3.43 W/kg right now. Lots of room to improve.

^ that's not bad at all! I was just shy of 4 w/kg on my last FTP test -- I did it by actually going flat out for an hour (climbing Diablo). Averaged 243w for the 1:09 climb.
