Cane Creek S2 headset crown race
I need to replace the crown race on a Cane Creek S2 1 1/8" threadless headset. Cane Creek doesn't make the S2 anymore, and instead has 3 basic series - the 10, 40, & 110. Does anyone know whether the crown races for these series are backwards-compatible with the S2 (according to Cane Creek's website, they are cross-compatible with each other)? Can I buy one of these crown races and use it with my old S2?
Thanks for any info you can give.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

If the S2 is a sealed (cartridge) bearing model, odds favor you greatly. On a cartridge bearing headset, the actual crown race is part of the headset, what's mounted on the fork is more by way of a centering cone to locate it.
OTOH- actual crown races (where the balls actually run) on cup/cone headsets are much more specific, and odds would be against you.
