I call my purple Bianchi my pretty purple Bianchi. I have a hybrid that I try not to refer to. I usually end up calling it horrible names. I'm going to replace it soon with a mountain bike. I can't wait!

After many upgrades to my '97 Kaitai, I've dubbed my ride "monster bike". Particularly because of the drastic front-end height increase with my new Marzocchi mxr forks.

Every lane is a bike lane
I haven't yet named my bike. With almost 12,500km since I bought it at the end of April, maybe it's time I did. Any suggestions?

They don't need names; they know who they are.
(When discussing them with other people, though, they are "the rain bike" and "the good bike."

I don't have names for my bikes, besides the "cross" bike and the "mountain" bike, aka the "beater" bike. If anything I'd rather just name one part of my cross bike... in particular the back wheel... aka the b*st*rd. If you haven't read my posts about my wheel problems, I'm always breaking spokes. The sales people and mechanics at my LBS all know me by sight and name now. I'm keeping them in business, one spoke at a time. LOL. Maybe someday I'll teach myself to build my own wheels, until then... it'll just be "the b*st*rd back wheel did it to me again".

I've dubbed my Trek 520 Passapartoute. Like the valet in 'Around the World in 80 Days' but feminine. Don't know why I decided she is a she, but she is. I named her in hopes that she would take me around the world, but mostly she just takes me to work, I'll forgive her for that, because she always takes me home at the end of the night.

My single bikes don't have names, but the tandems do,. The off road tandem has a set oc custom cut decals in hot pink... Marital Aid. One year at the Pedros Mountain Bike festival I gave out Team Marital Aid T-shirts to any one who stoked the tandem.
The road tandem (touring bike) Is the "Rollercoster of Luv"

All my bikes are named for ex-girlfriends.
Katrina (the best looking girl I ever dated), is my carbon framed road bike. She’s lightweight and pretty and fun to ride, but she’s high maintenance and prone to break-downs at inopportune moments.
Cheryl (the one I should have married), is my steel framed commuter. She isn’t as attractive or as fun to ride as Katrina, but she’ll let you ride her anytime and take all of the abuse you can heap on her. She never complains and requires very little maintenance even though I ride her more than all my other bikes combined.
Susan, my grocery bike, is an old hybrid I spray painted and put a bunch of cheap Wald baskets on to make her look bad. I try to load her down as often as possible and generally treat her badly. She stays in the garage instead of in the climate controlled workshop with the rest of my bikes. I named her after my ex-wife.

I usually call it "my bike," unless I'm talking to people who already know I have more than one, in which case I call it "my commuting bike" or "my folding bike" depending how much specificity is needed.
