I just opened up a shop in Huntington, NY!!!

After working for other people for the past 17+ years I decided to open up my own shop. Check us out or stop by and say hello. Forum members get the "team" discount, so mention that you saw this here.

We're still setting up, but already open. We're carrying Giant, Bianchi, Pinarello, Colnago, Pegoretti, Parlee. We're Long Island's only Catlike helmet dealer and Serotta-certified fitters (well, I am, anyway). We're right on Main St. with our own parking in the back.

Good! Long Island needs more Bicycle Dealers. I usually go to the one in Oyster Bay. But Huntington isn't very far from O.B.

I'll have to look at your website. Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you, everyone! If you stop by please mention this board.
I was at another shop previous... I was the manager of store in Great Neck and going on my 17th (or 18th) year in the bike business.

Here are a few pics of some of the fun stuff I have in there:

I'm the only one on Long Island to carry these...

Arrived today!!!

WOW what a Clean shop. Congrats.
I followed my dream and opened Citizen Chain in 2007.
I really was mostly in Vintage Steel Bikes and Select American Handmade Builders.
You have a great line up!
May you have a great and long Retail Bicycle career and revel in the knowledge you are doing a great service .

Good luck. There is a shortage of shops in that our area who care about what they are doing, what they are selling and who they are selling it to. (Not saying there are none, but there is certainly a shortage.) If you do, you should go far. See you soon.

Thank you again.

The goal was/is to have the shop that I want to buy in. I'm trying to get across the idea and vibe that cycling is a fun activity and we don't want to take it too seriously. I want both customers and staff to enjoy being there, so that I can enjoy being there.

As for the product... I'm trying to weed out the clutter and trying to carry only items that are the best, either best quality or best value. A lot of these will be items that are not easily found in local shops, but hopefully that will be the appeal to the cycling enthusiast.

As for the service... I'm a Serotta-trained fitter with over a decade of fittings under my belt. A fit will be done with every road bike purchase. I'm also doubling the manufacturer's warranties (up to 5 years). I will be doing trade-ins... these will be sold on consignment via an Ebay store so that customers can clear room for new bikes. I'm hoping all of this will help to drive traffic into the store and give people a good level of comfort dealing with a new shop.

Thank you all again for the kind words. I hope to see you all soon.

The shop looks great and good luck. My group and I ride out from Jamaica Estates to Syosset/Oyster Bay on the weekends; looking forward to visiting the new "toy" store.

Congrats! Using Streetview, it looks like the location was formerly an Indian restaurant? Does it smell like curry inside? That could be a good or bad thing.

Congrats! I used to spend a lot of time out in Long Island when I went to school at St. John's. If I'm ever on the island anytime soon, I'll stop by and check the place out. The shop is very clean and looks very classy. Best of luck to you!

Saw this shop the other night, before I saw your post here. I was the guy who came in asking for stainless steel water bottles. The place looks really nice, but I think the bikes are a little above my price range. Best of luck, as you seem to deserve it.

Thanks for coming in. I checked out the stainless bottles (as I've never considered carrying them)... I just need to make sure that they will stay put in a bottle cage. Most of the ones that are being carried by my distributors look like they would be ejected pretty quickly.

As for the bikes... I should've showed you more. I have bikes that start at under $350 and road bikes at about $600. The goal is to be an enthusiast-oriented store, but I'm in the center of Huntington Village, so I can't ignore the family business.

Besides, while I'm new (at least for the rest of May) all of the bikes are 10% off, the accessories are 20% off and labor is 1/2 price (that means $35 tune-ups). I think this will make my shop one of the least expensive ones in the area.

Stop by again if you're in the area. I'll be getting a few of these bottles just to "test" them out in the next week or so.
