Acorns in small numbers don't bother me, but if you go under a very productive tree... that's like gravel grinding. Walnuts are the ones the get my attention, both the ones I can see on the road and the ones overhead that could fall on me. Happy to say, never been hit by a fall walnut or acorn... now I'm knocking on wood.

I don't like riding over acorns because they have that sharp point on the bottom. Worried about getting a flat, but probably not really an issue. Walnuts and the softball-sized green things make me nervous, but they are usually only in certain areas and can be avoided.

YES!! Out here on Long Island, the acorns are all over the roads. When I used to commute on 1.5" Specialized Nimbus tires, they would throw me all over the place. Now that I am riding 2.35" Big Apples, I don't even feel them. However, just two days ago, I stopped at a traffic light under a huge tree, and just as I came to a halt, I got showered with an entire branch full of them. The sound of dozens of acorns pelting my helmet was ear-shattering, but hilarious. The driver next to me got a good laugh out of it, too.

But yeah, look out for those nasty little things, especially when you're riding on leaves.

I saw an acorn drop from a tree, bounce on the road, and launch on a direct trajectory to my eye. It bounced off my spectacles.

HA! D@mn Karma got us both! I also hate geese poop when it freezes. I hope that never hits me in the head.

Today (on Danville Blvd for locals) I biked over a cluster of acorns and my biking partner came under fire. He yelled as at least 5 acorns shot off in rapid succession. I hit his frame, leg and chest. He deserved it for dropping me on hills. Revenge!! *Muhahahhaaaaaaaaaa*!!

Yeah, those are also the biggest threat for me on the MUP right now. This year I've had a couple of close calls with falling ones too.

Acorns a plenty on my commute. Really don't bother me too much. Once rode a MUP covered in Hickory nuts. Before the outer hull comes off, they are about the size of a Walnut. The outer hull is split into several pieces that have sharp pointed ends. Not really much fun.

I sent an acorn hard into the door of a new looking BMW next to me. The driver looked at me as I looked at him. He did not really understand what happened, I think. I was in full view and had both hands on the bars, so it looked as if it could not have come from me.

Or could it?
