Man. I really have to remember to pack an entire change of clothes.

Day 3 out of 10 I forgot my underwear.

Fortunately I work overnight and alone so virtually nobody is around to see my shameful spandex pseudo-diaper.

LOL! Been there, done that. Underwear is overrated...unless you work in a hazardous environment.

At least it wasn't raining. I got caught out badly one day when I was commuting by moto. Soaked through the riding suit, and the street clothes I had underneath.
Realized when I opened my locker, that i'd used my backup clothes a few days earlier, and never got around to bringing another outfit.

8 hours, commando, in wet jeans is possibly one of my worst workdays ever.

I now started bringing the clothes for a whole week on Monday. This way I can travel lighter other 4 days. And coming Monday I take the "old" ones back.

Bringing a spare pair and leaving them at work looked like a great idea after I did this.

I'm willing to go commando, but I do keep emergency backup jeans and polo in my locker at work, in case I forget to bring clothes.

OP made me look Yep, I've got my backup change of clothes, and backup to my backup, and socks ... but no underwear. Spare in my bag replenishes that, so you've done me a service.

The problem for me was that I did have an entire change of clothes. Then I forgot that I had brought my trousers home. Then I rode into work, having forgotten that. So I had to walk around without pants all day.

That sounds like a bad dream, like forgetting to study for a test when it's been years after graduation.

Psssh. I forget my underwear once a week, at least. No one notices the shorts under the jeans (well, at least no one has said anything).

That can be a real damper on your career prospects, I've found...

I really felt like I was living in a nightmare. But no one really noticed. I wore my dress shirt, dangled over my bike shorts, so my shirt looked like a tunic. A little eccentric, but I work at a college, so it wasn't that bad.

My kids all bring an extra pair of socks and underwear in their school bags. There are enough little pockets on their backpacks to do this. They've all used the backup stuff, at least once.

I worked for a doctor who would to ride to work and then see patients in a white coat over his bib shorts.

Make sure the pants you bring are your own.

Last time I went commando instead of wearing bike shorts under my pants? I had some wet farts as a prelude to diarrhea.

It, uh, wasn't good. Never again.

Well of course, only in an emergency situation, and you have to monitor fart humidity more closely all day...

Also been there and done that. Underwear is not a big deal. Going commando is no problem (as long as you don't have a "wardrobe malfunction" with your pants). I actually split the crotch seam on a pair of pants once. Was just small enough to not be noticable from the back. So just kept them on and walked with smaller steps... I also forgot my pants once. Looked like a dork by having to wear my bib tights with a dress shirt. Was also going to help someone at their computer and rescheduled that for the next day. Disaster avoided...

Edit: It might help to pre-pack the night before (or morning before in OPs case?). I sometimes do that to save time getting ready for work. But not often enough...

I'm fortunate enough to have an office where I can store stuff - I now have a change of clothes (including underwear, socks, and extra shoes) stashed just in case. Walking around all day in soggy trousers is no good.

That's awesome. One of my friends was going to give a final exam one day and accidentally left the house wearing only long underwear. It was too late to go change, but nobody seemed to notice. Years later, he ran into one of his former students at a party; the student was like, "Hey, you're that professor that gave an exam in underwear!"

I could have been a good professor. But, even with encouragement to bike to work and good routes and parking I wouldn't want to need another shower upon arrival. Overshoes in the summer could be annoying too.

I do the same but on Friday, I pack it up for the ride home to add to the weekend laundry. I'll even bring a couple of day's (or more) lunch on Monday so for a couple of days, I can switch from my Kona Sutra touring bike with rear panniers to my Look road bike for a couple of days of fun, fast and longer commutes (up to 42km in the morning).

I would leave multiple shirts, pants and socks at work and rotate them by bringing one shirt and socks back weekly.

At home I would also have piles of bicycle clothes and casual clothes messing up either my bedroom, washroom or spare room with my bike stuff.
