Suggestion on keeping crank from coming loose?

Highly against gluing or welding that. Its more likely to come apart a second time. And if it comes apart and you require some screws to hold your ankle bones in place, I wont say I told you so. New cranks are a good idea.

10 , i suspect there was nicks in the crank arm,(FD cage scraped it on the back side) that were ignored,
and a stress-riser grew from that .
swaged arm , chainring.. it was perhaps not even forged but instead die cast. as well as being 30 years old.

There's no picture of a crank with FD wear in this thread. Cranks of all types break sometimes. Do an image search - I just posted one.
