Road cycling near Montreal and/or Quebec City?

Going up to Canada this summer for a family event, will have several days in Montreal and several days in (old) Quebec City. Will bring our bikes. Not looking to make it a "cycling vacation" per se since family takes priority, but it'd be nice to get some 25-50 mile rides (paved) in before anybody else is out of bed.

Any suggestions on routes, or resources for finding routes? Local cycle clubs or shop rides? Beanspill!

Thanks.

Has anyone had any experience with the Eastern Township? Where would you stay? How would you plan for a bike tour between Montreal and Vermont?

For Québec city, you must have to go to '' chaudièresappalachesparcours des anses-lévis'' (sorry new member are not allowed to post URL)

I live in Eastern township, just ask me what you want to know. Je parle français aussi

I have done lots of riding around Magog and Orford QC just north of the VT border. It is one of my favorite areas and would be easily reached from MTL in a day. There are many motels and VT would be 1/2 day away.

Not sure about where to bike, but Magog is such a great little city, where you can enjoy public beaches. It's our favorite place for vacations. Downtown is charming with nice restaurants, and bands playing music outside at night.

Downtown Montreal to Fort Chambly is about 20 miles and worth the trip. Or you can bike along the canal and take Lakeshore Boulevard out to Sainte Anne de Bellevue.

Quebec City you're not that far from Baie-St-Paul, a pretty little place popular with artists.
