I wouldn't go as far as recommending the campgrounds. There may be better options but it did the job for us. Goose Bay is a glorified trailer park with 5-6 tent sites. Friday evening was party time. As we foolishly thought we are going to bed we had to second guess our tent pitch so close to the path as the beer carrying golfcarts went were cruising the campground. Then, someone unleashed two sets of fireworks above our tent and we had to listen to Allman Brothers and incoherent babbling of intoxicated patrons for a few more hours but all went quiet around 11pm so we still got a good night sleep. If You're not an early to bed type then I would recommend buying a few beers, kicking back and don't plan on going to bed until about 11pm. :-)

In Port Kent, there seems to be a better campground right above the ferry landing but they were full so we went another mile to the Ausable Chasm. The campground spots are nice and the pool was nice but the campground seems like a tourist trap :-)

Ok. Enough complaining. We had a fabulous trip. Scenic, with every mile and minimal climbing for my standards.

thanks for the heads up. I have only ever once camped in that generally area once, on one of the Hero Islands, waaay back on my first ever bike trip in 89. Had to pay the same in my borrowed itsy bitsy bivy type coffin tent as a giant RV, but I seem to recall some nice RV folks giving me some supper after asking me about my trip.
Have biked through and visited Ausable Chasm, on a supported trip, and get the "tourist trap" comment, but its like that whenever there is a known place that tourists come to isnt it?
As you say though, main thing is that it was pretty and you had a good time.

Funny how that hospitality thing kicks in & out, huh? Last night, a restaurant owner yelled to me, asking if I was hungry. I think he cooked way more food than he had customers. I had just finished eating a huge fruit salad, and already stocked up for today's ride, so I politely declined.
This morning, a trucker bought my coffee for me (in a to-go cup), then someone else paid for my 2 sausage biscuits, at Carl's JR.
Mind you, I'm clean and definitely NOT panhandling, have plenty of cash on hand, so it makes ya wonder. 🤔😉
I'll be sure to pass it along, especially that good feeling you get. 👍

Thanks. It was super exciting to see him. When I did, I let out a loud "Yesssssss!" That caused him to stop and see what was up, which gave me time to fire up the camera.

I do love Montana. Spent a year studying at Rocky Mountain College in Billings...Never got to cycle though! I'm sure glacier national park and the Bear-Tooth mountains are breath taking on a bicycle, both mentally and physically!

Skipped Glacier this time. Been up the west side four times and down the east side once. Instead, I substituted Gold Pass from St. Regis into Idaho, St. Joe River Rd. and the Route of the Hiawatha trail. I also built in time to ride up to and walk through the Ross Creek Cedars.
