I'm close. I was 168 the day I graduated from HS, 172 this morning (or 102% of my HS weight). Since HS, I've been as low as 151 (was running marathons at the time) and as high as 196 (was eating and drinking like a Russian at the time).
I'm planning to be 168 again on May 1.

I think it's cool to see how many people who wrestled in high school also are into cycling. I guess it is because a lot similarities in the two sports (kind of). Mainly referring to the solo aspect of it, digging deep to push your body past it's limits, weight management, etc.
Anyway, as a former wrestler, I am definitely addicted to the scale. I am 33, 5'9; wrestled 135 in high school but spent most of the off season around 142-145. Left college around 162; but was still running close to 50 miles a week. This time last year, I was about 196 on the scales & decided enough was enough. Lost the first 20 pounds due to diet & walking 4-6 miles a day. Lost the next 10 by diet & running (3 miles one day; 5 the next; one day rest) and then ordered my bike. Since having the bike, I have lost another 20 pounds, although I do fall in the catagory of biking hard just to eat fatty foods. If I ride a metric or more, I allow myself a Cheeseburger with large fries (God bless 5 guys burgers & fries - if you have one near you; you know what I mean!)
Realistically, I never saw myself getting back to high school weight. Although, I never imagined getting to 155 either! When I started my diet, I was hoping to hit 170; then 160; now I feel if I can get to 150, I have probably gone as far as my body needs to. My mom was so worried she bought me a fancy scale for Christmas that does Body Fat, although I am well with in the proper windows. She just doesn't get to see me enough. I just think we are in a majorly overweight society. I did return to my former place of employment (been gone 2 years) and it felt good for the most common comment to be about how much weight I look like I have lost!

John Bender: I wanna be just like you. I figure, all I need is a lobotomy, and some tights.
Brian Johnson: You wear tights?
Andrew Clark: No, I don't wear tights. I wear the required uniform.
Brian Johnson: Tights.
Andrew Clark: Shut up!

I am 5' 10" and weigh around 190lbs. I am not middle aged, but sometimes I feel like it I have a pretty big frame - waist size is 34. The lightest I have ever been is 174 and i would like to get back to that weight. It is definitely hard to keep shredding the pounds while lifting weights (no matter how small they are). I hope to be sub 180 before the end of summer.
I have lost around 15 pounds since my knee surgery last January (07) and that is pretty good considering the lack of activity for the first 6-8 months.

I'm a bit heavier than I was in school, was 5'6" and rocked around 125-130lbs, currently 145 and still 5'6"
Still have the same black leather jacket I wore while in school (70s), and it's 'tradition' to wear it when I take the motorcycle for the first few rides in spring till it warms up outside. (still have the same motorcycle I rode in storage at a friends house too!)
ken.
Should say I still wear the same size pants and shirt, just seem to have become heavier without any increase in size.

I'm 55yrs , 6' and currently weigh 193, down from 227 this time last year. I have been riding for over 10 years but started to get competitive on group rides last year and will begin racing in two weeks. I played football, basketball and ran track in high school and graduated at around 175. In college I competed in the decathlon in track and field and played football as a kick returner and reciever my senior year. For the decathon I preformed best at around 188 lbs. My goal for this year is to get to 186 by June and 180 by Aug 1. My wife thinks that I am too thin now but I remind her that the government BMI Index suggest that I weigh 185 or less to not be considered overweight.

Cycling can burn tons of calories if you ride hard enough. 700 kCal/hr is a good workout, 1000 kCal/hr for a fit rider doing a time trial. Plus, you can do it longer and don't have to take as long a rest period as running.

I did my best to hit 170 for HS football at 5'10. Now I'm 163, and I'd like to be 158-160. My downfall: dark chocolate and Ben and Jerry's (and of course beer).

I think the point is, if you're interested in the health benefits, a typical middle-aged person can achieve their HS weight, or close to it with a combination of cycling (or running) and proper diet. (I exclude those with genetic disorders or those who experienced growth spurts into their 20's.) Consult with your physician, of course, but if you set that as your goal and use a modicum of discipline, it's not that difficult.
With my doctor's enthusiastic support, I dropped ~40 lbs. over a 2-year period to return to my HS weight. I've stayed in that range ever since, using a combination of exercise (mostly cycling and hiking) and a decent diet.

I don't think I'd want to weigh what I did in HS even if I could. I weighed about 140 (at a shade over 5'10")when I graduated from HS. I was strong and fast and...light. I played football and basketball and put my share if hurtin' on folks
However, I did fill in a lot more (upper body especially) and I think I would look like a like a poster child for starvation if I weighed that again. That said I am aiming for about 170 right now. About 15 lbs to go.

I will never for the life of me understand how somebody can be 6" taller than me and weigh what I do when I look like a cycling POW. That's amazing.

I'm 51, 6' 160, 20 pounds heavier than HS. Wouldn't want to weigh 140 again. Just getting back into biking last summer I noticed my biggest difference on the basketball court. I'm running high school and college kids into the ground now. Still can't shoot for sh&#, but I can run! By the way, I don't believe I've hit middle age yet.

At 42, I weigh 10 pounds more than when I graduated college, 20 more than when I graduated HS. I figure I was still growing in college as I would have to be skin and bones to be 135 lbs. at 5'8" again. Last year I got to 148 lbs. but that was with steady riding every other day and no holiday season in sight. I'm around 157 now but the weather is warming and it's good to be riding again.

I'm 5'11", currently 175 or so. I was 135 when I graduated high school. In the photo below I am about 167 lbs, and that's the weight I'm shooting for. You try to picture what I'd look like 32 lbs. lighter than I am in this picture.
I start getting POW cheeks below 170 lbs. If I ever see the lighter side of 165lbs again, I'll be amazed. Below 160, everybody I know would think I was seriously ill. Hell, I get comments 5+ lbs above that level. I'm 50 now, it started getting to be much harder to lose weight in my early 40's.

I've never seen a clear picture of you, but you look really young for 50!

There are a lot of former wrestlers on this forum - great news! I wrestled in HS and last year resigned from coaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade students. The 8th graders kept picking on me and putting me in an arm bar! I maintain my weight from the date of my military discharge more than my high school weight since I was 21 when I mustered out. Although at 61 I have to keep the burn up and watch the calories in the winter. My motto is: If you don't take care of your body where will you live?

I am not yelling at anyone, I am saying ARRRRGGGHHHHHH on lap 8 (going up that little Prospect Park hill for the 8th time) as the peloton, smelling blood in the water because they see the 5 man break that had been away for 25+ miles, accelerates to catch them. What you can't see in this photo is the elastic stretching and almost breaking in front of my bicycle. I survived this Spot of Bother, and actually felt much better on the last couple of laps (12 laps, 3.3 mile loop, about 40 miles).

Here's a great website for monitoring calories, the only way to effectively lose weight. It's called The Dailyplate (https://thedailyplate.com).

I graduated at 148 lbs. I would have to take up crystal meth and saw a leg off o get back down to that.
I think wrestling in high school is where I developed alot of my bad eating habits. I would cut weight by not eating or drinking anything for 24 hours before weigh in. I then would binge (usually a 3-pc KFC, snickers bar and a quart of gatorade) and pray that the lower weight class matches took long enough for me to digest a little bit.
